Per a 9am broadcast from Boston Fire Alarm, narrowbanding conversion has begun, channel 3 & 4 are out of service. With the change the DPL tones are changing, for new tones ;

yup
830 AM today - 483.2375 R - testing inside the O'Neil Tunnel - I got DPL 712 and DPL 731

The portable radios might have a "Z Zone" with the new narrowband channels - some mobiles might not have the Z Zone

Phase 1 just about complete

Report that Phase 1 of the Boston Fire rebanding is complete. If all goes well, they SHOULD begin Phase 2 of the rebanding this afternoon. F1, F2 and MetroFire Red will go dark. Boston Fire will shift operations over to the newly rebanded F3 and F4.

We will see

Narrowbanding update.
F3 is the temporary primary, F4 is the fireground.
F1 and F2 are out of service for NB work.
Database has been updated with the new DPLs. Database also noted about the temporary condition and where it stands. I will update as soon as I hear an update.
F5 (The station alerting frequency) will not be changed.

I have an FT7800. With the narrowbanding for BFD complete do I need to change my step settings? My choices are 5, 10, 12.5, 15,20,25. It is now set to 12.5. Thanks in advance, Steve

The emission is 11K0F3E, so you should be all set with 12.5 If you don't like it, try 10, but I think 10 may be too narrow.

Step settings = channel spacing is not the same as
Bandwidth [not familiar with your model] which is based on the modulation bandwidth .

When in T-Band [for New England] 12.5 channel steps is correct [For now]
NYC is already down to 6.25 steps
