Hi folks,

I'm programing a scanner to send to a friend in the Boston area - just wondering which analog 2 meter Amateur repeaters are well received in the city. Also, can someone point me in the direction of a list of Air frequencies as well. I have those for Logan but what else can be easily received.

Any help would be great

Paul in Ireland.

Many of the 2 meter Repeaters are active, especially during a Morning Commute

Where you Say Boston area, Metro?, North ?, South? or West?

Here is the Regional Coordinators Page
New England Repeater Directory

For Aviation, looking for Civil or MilAir ?
Keep in mind, plenty of Tourists (Non New England Units) fly above in our Region
but these should keep you busy

Hi Bill,

many thanks for the aero pointers. My friend is in Roslindale, so I'm wondering what 2m repeaters are easily heard there.

Paul.

Search banks

One other question.

I have no idea what the VHF UHF bandplan is like in the US. I have Dx'ed lots of Low band stuff from here but I'm wondering what bands I might load into the scanner to give him something to search. He's a complete beginner and I have ten search bands.

Any ideas? Freq range / step / mode would be most helpful.

Amateur Band ?? (Varies by Region) but
144-148 Mhz at 5 Khz will work
440-450 Mhz at 12.5 Khz will work

If you meant public safety, well that will vary.
Is this a US Scanner ? if so, it should default for search bands.

Ask away, as you need more help
