Boston PD Paging

What is the Boston PD paging channel used for? I don't scan much in Boston, but could some one explain what its used for and how it works?

What frequency are you referring to?

If you are referring to 159.2100, it is just that, a paging channel, for command and staff. You won't hear any voice transmission on it except in an extreme case. If you listen to it all you will here is paging.

Where I'm from "paging" is quick call tones and some voice

Paging [Alpha-numeric] like the commercial carriers.

BEMS also has a channel

Plectron, Quick Call, Tone-outs in these/here parts are not paging.
