Will be visiting Boston area over Labor Day and have a few questions.
Staying at the Burlington Marriott. Will I be able to pick up Boston with a PSR800 with RS 800 antenna?
After reading the forum I'm confused as to what to download from the database to monitor Boston PD
and MASP that covers Boston and Middlesex County.

Thanks.....

You should have no problems, Bob. MSP Zone 05 will provide coverage for the area you're in, and the Boston PD section of the RR database should be pretty much all inclusive. There's a lot of other activity to listen to as well depending on your interests, but that should basically get you started.

yup
If you want to listen to Boston from the hotel, you might want to get a room that faces Boston. I am in Arlington and sometimes Boston is a little weak to me.

You will be able to pick up Boston PD and FD as well as Mass State Police from that area with a Radio Shack 800mhz antenna.

Boston PD has multiple conventional channels. Channels 2-6 are primary dispatch for different areas of the city.

Boston FD has 5 conventional channels. Channel 1 is primary dispatch.

Mass State Police is a Mot trunked system. You'll want to program Zone 05 for that area. You should have no problem picking it up with that antenna. MSP is split up into different troops. Burlington area falls within Troop A. Boston area is Troop H. Logan Airport (in Boston) is Troop F.

Let me know if you have any other questions before your visit.

Ignore anything regarding Boston PD, FD, or EMS on the city 800 trunk. Nothing there is used on a day to day basis. All operational traffic is on the UHF frequencies as in the RR DB.
