Got the Diamond SRH77CA for my KG-UV6D (other Woxun radios use different antenna conectors) This antenna brings in repeaters that I could not hear before,Have not tested in for transmit yet, But for receiving so far it works great. I am still getting use to it's size. It's loooooong.Also being more careful.Next I am thinking of getting an adapter cable so I can conect my little dual-band mag mount.

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

The Diamond SRH77CA is a nice antenna,but like you said its a bit long.

I like mine for it's performance -- the only gripe I have is the floppiness of the whip. If it's not held completely vertical (such as in a cup holder, etc.), it tends to sag over time.

I have been very happy with the Diamond 77CA antennas for my handheld transceivers for a long time. They do a fine job as a scanner antenna as well.
That being said, if you're trying to pull in a weak 800MHz signal, a dedicated 800MHz antenna will work much better.

I just bought the Wouxon KG-UVD1P yesterday and paid the extra $16 for the "high gain DX-1" antenna. How does that one compare to the Diamond 77CA?
