I live in the U.S. and recently purchased a vintage radio from a seller based in Canada and I noticed I got charged tax on the sale. Is this normal on International sales?

Sounds like a question for Ebay.

Where was the tax from?

Was it GST from Canada, or was it local/state sales tax?

I've purchased items from both in state and out of state and have been charged tax.

All it says is: "Tax C$8.19"
I'm assuming the seller cannot add an extra field, so I guess it's Canada charging GST on items going out of country.

Well the "Globe Patrol" radio arrived yesterday, and it's as anemic as I remember and it has a couple of issues, but for the most part it works. The boomer AM station 20 miles away didn't come in very well, at least during the day (so far). Later I found what I thought was some sort of Left-wing propaganda station... but it turned out to be some CB'er rebroadcasting NWPR. The guy has to be close, because he was full quieting into that little non-sensitive, non-selective receiver.

I gave it another go this morning but those results will appear in my next nostalgia radio video. As always I'll keep it short but sweet.

GST is Goods and Services Tax.
PST [no longer officially used and was short for Provincial Sales Tax] is now HST - Harmonised [sic] Sales Tax.

Ebay caved in to sales tax some time ago and you will pay it no matter where you live or where you buy from. The worse problem is for sellers in the future and you will be paying income tax on everything you sell on eBay or anywhere else the payment goes into a bank. If your account takes in more than $600 in a given year everything after that is considered income and will be taxed.

If your income tax rate at the end of the year is say 30% then whatever you just sold on eBay will be reduced by that amount. So think about this, you buy something brand new and you pay sales tax on it. Maybe you bought a new Icom 7300 for $1,200, used it for a month and decide you don't like it so you put it on eBay. It sells for $800. Great, you lost $400 in the process, but wait, you will now pay your 30% or whatever income tax on the sale of that radio you bought new and paid sales tax on, took a loss and now they take 30% more. Why? To fund all the new IRS field agents to make sure they get all the income tax from us on everything we sell on Craig's list, eBay, anything they can squeeze us for. Thanks Joe, thanks a lot.
