LOCATION: Highway 36 Milepost 16.5 - Boulder County
On 12/14/08 at approximately 2:00 P.M. Colorado State Troopers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on CO 36 milepost 16.5.
A green 1997 Toyota Rav-4 was traveling westbound on CO 36 when the driver lost control for an unknown reason. The vehicle rotated clockwise as it ran off the left side of the roadway, rolled one and 1/4 time and landed in St. Vrains Creek.
The unrestrained female driver ***has been identified as Karen Seibert, 60 of Lyons, CO.*** Seibert was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Boulder County Coroner. A passerby jumped into the river and pulled Seibert out of the water.
Alcohol and drugs are not considered to be contributing factors.
Next of kin have been notified.
