i Sent a 996T to a relative several years ago and i remember NOT programming in the statewise system but a local system for bozeman and gallatin county. But reading this today, so i went to the RR gallatin county DB and dont see any local system for Bozeman or the county. So now i am scratching my head and reaching out to my relative to see if his scanner still works up there..

There isn't a local system listed in the db. I had to do a lot of research to find the system. From what I understand this system will be patched up with the statewide system sometime in the future.

That is my point. There was a system in bozeman for bozeman and gallatin county. I programmed that into my relatives 996T and sent it up there a few years ago. Now there is no individual system. A patched system is still an individual system. So if its still up and running why is not showing in the DB?

I'd say that system isn't in the db because no one has submitted the information to have it added. May I ask what system did you program into the 996T, because the state system is the only system I've known about until it disappeared from listening recently?

I would have to search for the programming. Also I realized it was a 396T portable. Im checking my freescan saved files and not finding it. So ill have to check a couple of other computers to see if i can find the saved codeplug.

But just from my recollection it was not the statewide system but a stand alone system for bozeman and gallatin county. But maybe it was migrated over to the state wide system. Ill keep looking. And ill reach out again and see if his scanner is still working.

So now im looking at the statewise system and i see a site called Bozeman 800 site 1-27 so maybe they did merge that into the state system.

I was in Bozeman last March for state basketball tournament, I had both my G5 and SDS100 programmed for
Bozeman on the state’s system(MPSCS) monitoring fire and EMS. I had no problem receiving them, the “800“ MHz site seemed to be the most active. The automated dispatch took a little to get used to. Just an FYI.

Was in Bozeman yesterday for extended period of time. Had my G5 and SDS-100 with me to monitor the Bozeman MPSCS (State)
system. Not much traffic, only heard the MHP talkgroup active, NO Bozeman/Gallatin County talkgroups heard.
Put the SDS-100 in search mode in the 800 MHz range and found the following.
NAC: 820h
Control Channels:
855.9625 Belgrade
859.9375 Nixon
These 2 frequencies only showed "Data" No voice traffic was heard.

Heard voice traffic only on the following frequencies:
854.9625
856.4875
856.9875
857.7125
858.2125
These would be accurate under the FCC license of WRMK 753 (Belgrade)

I heard voice traffic only on the following frequencies:
856.7625
857.0875
857.9875
858.4625
859.4625
859.9375
These would be accurate under the FCC license of WRMK745 (Nixon)

Thanks to "TVENGR" for the FCC License lookups!

Talkgroup ID's that I caught were:
6100
6300
6400
Hope this helps out and somebody can add to the list or send information to be added to the database.

Not knowing much about all of this trunking setup, but does it matter that bozo has gone encrypted?

I swear they changed over a couple, three years ago, but truthfully since I left the SAR group, I haven't been paying much attention. Guess I need to ping my friend who runs one of the radio shops in town for the lowdown.

My friend just told me that to the best of his knowledge, most "normal" channels aren't encrypted. Of course, the LEOs can enable encryption as required during incidents, but everyday usage shouldn't be...until it is.

I'm in Bozeman now, haven't heard anything on my Unication G2 except state traffic, MHP and a state incident TG that was active early this morning. Manhattan tower. I'll try with an analog radio to listen for conventional.

I went ahead and added this system to the database based on this thead

Please submit to the database any changes, updates, etc.

Thanks!
there is an Incident 1 and incident 2 channel for this system, I have no clue what frequencies for the site they are on as its definitely not between 850-860 MHz, I think it might be in another range but anyone else who can find it awesome. It could possibly be encrypted.
Bozeman Fire dispatch/command is 6438, 6431, as well as occasionally 6600.
Valley fire is on a bunch of random frequencies for each small station like Hyalite is one frequency, Manhattan fire is on one of the low 6900 channels, a high 6900 channel is a frequency used for structure and brush fires around the valley.
Sheriffs channel has partial encryption because they changed it over during a police pursuit one day, both of those channels we get in the valley are 6300 and 6301.

My conjecture for what it's worth is that Gallatin county is mostly ENC unless someone local can chime in. Billings was similar with MHP and Yellowstone SO in the clear

From what I've observed, none of the talk groups in the Gallatin County / Bozeman trunked system are encrypted. The MHP still operate on the state trunking system, and also in the clear.
Do you know what frequency and tgid they use for incidents? I know they have an incident 1& 2 for police matters and a fire Incident 1 and fire incident 2 for multi agency structure fire and vehicle accidents.

Sorry, but I don't the tgid for any incident channels. If they do have any, I haven't discovered them.
