BR330T: BR330T "Holds" vs "Scans" on power outage?

For years now, my BR330T which is hooked up to AC power has always went back to scanning what it was set to after a power outage.

For some reason it seems like now, it will simply hold on a random channel on a system it wasn't even scanning before the power went out.

I tried looking in the manual but I can't find a section of what would have changed that the scanner doesn't just continue scanning the same system it did before the power loss.

I can keep batteries in as a backup but it was not necessary before.

It seems by assigning the system I want to Quick Key 1, makes it lock on to the main freq I desire, but I'd prefer it to scan not hold.

I guess it no longer remembers it's last status before the power down.
Bad memory battery, it there is such a thing in BR330?
