The 178th Fighter Group's F16s will be divided up between 3 bases: 9 to the 132nd Fighter Wing at Des Moines International Airport Air Guard Station, 3 to the 140th Fighter Wing at Buckley Air Force Base and 6 to the 149th Fighter Wing at Lackland Air Force Base. The 178th's Expeditionary Combat Support, the 251st (my error saying 256th) Combat Communications Group and the 269th Combat Communications Squadron will remain at Springfield. The Fire and Crash units will go to Rickenbacker Air Guard Station in Lockbourne, Ohio.
The Mansfield-Lahm Air Guard Station will be closed, with 8 of the 179th Airlift Wing's C130H aircraft going to the Air Force Reserve 908th Airlift Wing at Maxwell Air Force Base and 4 to the 314th Air Lift Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base. The 179th's Expeditionary Combat Support goes to Louisville International Airport Air Guard Station and the Fire and Crash units to Toledo Express Airport Air Guard Station.
Scouten Army Reserve Center Mansfield OH and Parrott Army Reserve Center Kenton OH will relocate to a new Armed Forces Reserve Center at Mansfield-Lahm Airport. Other Armories in Mansfield and Ashland Ohio may also move to this new Center.
The Army Reserve Center Springfield OH and Army National Guard Readiness Center Springfield OH will move to a new Armed Forces Reserve Center and Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport. Other Armories may also relocate to the new Springfield Center.
Fort Hayes Army Reserve Center Columbus OH and the Army Reserve Center Whitehall OH will be relocated to a new Armed Forces Reserve Center at Defense Supply Center Columbus OH.
The Air Force Research Laboratory Mesa City AZ, the Air Force Research Laboratory Rome NY and the Air Force Research Laboratory Hanscomb MA Sensors Directorate will be relocated to Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
The Fixed Wing Air Platform Developement and Acquisition will be relocated to WPAFB from Tinker Air Force Base, Robins Air Force Base and Hill Air Force Base. The Air Force Rotary Wing Air Platform Developement and Acquisition will be relocated at Naval Air Station Patuxent River from WPAFB.
The Naval Aeromedical Research Laboratory Pensacola FL will be relocated to WPAFB along with several other medical research operations.
Defense Finance and Accounting Service stations at Rock Island, IL, Pensacola FL, Norfolk VA, Lawton OK, Omaha NE, Dayton OH, St Louis MO, San Antonio TX, San Diego CA, Pacific Ford HI, Patuxant MD, Limestone ME, Charleston SC, Orlando FL, Rome NY, Lexington KY, Kansas City MO, Seaside CA, San Bernardino CA, Oakland CA, Arlington VA, Cleveland OH, Denver CO, and Indianapolis IN will be consolidated to Defense Supply Center Columbus Ohio, Buclkley Air Force Base Annex Denver CO and Emmett J Bean Federal Center Indianapolis IN.
With the 178th TW at Springfield and the 179th AW at Mansfield disbanding
this will mean considerable less milair to listen to in Ohio.
However, the 180th FW Toledo and the 122nd FW Ft. Wayne, IN should still make regular use of
the Brush Creek and Buckeye MOAs in southern Ohio. Also the 121st ARW at Rickenbacker will remain active.
