I just got my call sign yesterday i'm KK4NAJ.

I have talked today some with Echolink on my local ham clubs repeater but i'm looking to get a handheld radio any advice ?

I was thinking about getting a Baofeng UV 5RA to start me off for a few months since they don't cost a lot but i'm unsure about it being Chinese and the quality of the radio.

Congratulations on the call and license.
The best advice I can think of is to not get in too big of a hurry for that 1st radio. Do a lot of research about abilities, features, and cost. (I certainly understand about cost! And waiting to get a radio isn't ever easy.)
Hand-held radios aren't the best choice for a 1st radio, which is only my opinion. They are just too limited in ability. Pick the brains of the club members around you, see what they think about any particular brand/model of radio.
