I turned on my scanner this morning to find Bryan Fire Department, Brazos County VFD, and Bryan PD all back on the old county system for some reason. Can anyone shed any light on what might be going on here? All TxWARN sites are up and running, and it seems that only Bryan is effected by this. It also seems that the dispatchers are using handhelds.

Possibly system upgrades and they are on the backup system to avoid interruptions.

That's what I was thinking, although SO seems to be still using TxWARN, although it's hard to tell because they have always been simulcasted on both the old county system and TxWARN. I do know that Bryan FD and Brazos County VFD share the same dispatcher and console, along with Brazos County Constables, who seem to also be on the old county system now. It seems that they went really far with this because all Bryan FD units have reverted to their old analog radios. In addition, all the VFD units that were using TxWARN have suddenly started using the old system as well, and went from being digital to analog, and the long-dead VFD patch on the county system has suddenly come back to life. Both the Bryan Fire VHF and Brazos County VHF channels have an audio quality that I recognize as being patched from the county system (slightly louder and having some echo to it).

They just switched back with the message, "Radio maintenance is complete; you may switch back to your normal channels". Everything appears to be back to normal now.

Not sure if this is related but it appears as if the consoles are down up here in Tyler. Agencies are using their backup radios for dispatch
