Rattler, just to make sure you understood what I was talking about with regards to the possibility of Walker County rebanding, I was referring to sites 102 and 103. By the way, the techs were active again yesterday. They seem to have started testing radios, so I don't think it will be much longer before the switch happens. Not that I have any information on when this will happen, but I'm suspecting probably by either May or June. I also cought a HIDTA TGID (1113--HIDTA Ch. 3) on 122. (Aside: I did a little research on HIDTA, and it's apparently run by the DEA and United States Marshals, not Harris County SO.)

Yes, I know what you were talking about, and as I was saying, if you look at WQGG825, the license that covers the two Walker County digital sites, you will see that it is a STA, or Special Temporary Authorization. It expires on June 7, 2010. Don't put it past them to get another extension on that either, but at least it is a starting point if you are curious. At least they don't have to reband the two analog sites, since they are 856-860.

HIDTA is a task force, and they are not fully federal, per say. Yes, they are led by the feds, but they are adapted to each region they operate in by coordinating with the local agencies. Harris County SO plays a very big part in HIDTA, so you will hear a whole lot of traffic on those channels that is Harris County SO deputies.

I wouldn't look for harris county to actually begin rebanding the site infrastructure until they get their 40,000+ subscribers rebanded. Don't hold your breath... One day you'll turn on your scanner and a control channel or two will have vaporized. Then you'll know.

I decided to delete the Hensel and Millican sites from my scanners. I don't think they are going active anytime soon. By the way, I noticed that UPD is using their new P25 tactical channel more frequently recently. So far, that's the only P25 TAMU TG I have seen.

I'm leaving them in along with the Washington site. After all, the PSR500 holds 60000 frequencies or so, so 15 sitting in a scan list isn't going to kill me for space! :D

I'm leaving it on my 996T, just in case. I actually just locked them out on my 396XT. They're still there, but just not being monitored.

That HCRRS map has been available for a while now. I was kind of expecting to see the Riverside, Chapel Hill, and Edge sites when this kicked off.

121's down again. Turned on my scanners this morning and I noticed it was down. It was up yesterday and I was even getting Walker County Fire on it.

By the way, anyone have any idea what the frequenices for the Riverside and North Brazos sites are going to be (if any)?

Heard some SO activity on the CS site this afternoon on tg 2303 but it didn't come back to anything in the db.
Unit #'s were in the 900's.
Who were they?

That's a new TG for Sealy Police. It's not in the DB yet. Exactly why we are hearing it way up here, I don't really know.

Just got an email from a member who told me to look out for some new sites coming online soon in Brazos County.

I've noticed that most of the traffic on 121 and 122 has shifted to Austin and Walker Counties. I'm getting Austin County SO and SHSU PD, as well as Walker County Fire occassionally.

Hensel Park Active

The TAMU Hensel Park site has been activated. It's site 127. No traffic so far.

I suspect that when the Millican site comes online it will be site 128. The techs were doing test counts again yesterday. I still have no idea when the switchover will be. I have not seen any new TGIDs pop up that are not already listed in the DB.

It'll happen soon. Just hope the area doesn't go phase 2.

Judging by what's been popping up so far, it isn't likely. The techs seem to be testing Phase 1 radios, and demonstrated a Phase I radio to the Brenham fire chief. To be honest, I have never seen a Phase II TGID on the system. The disclaimer on the DB page kinda took me off guard. Most of the radios currently in use are XTS 2500s, 3000s, and 5000s. I know that 2500s are in use in Walker County, as well as XTL2500s. In order to go Phase II, they would need to replace all of the radios currently on the system, not to mention retrain the users on how to operate the new radios. It'll happen, but by the time it does, there will be a scanner capable of monitoring it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't only the APX series do Phase II?

My source just pointed out that Phase II does not even exist as a usable format yet (i.e. still in development), so there is no worry. The new Houston system will be Phase II, and that won't be in service until at least 2012--if things go acording to plan. I don't really know why a notice was placed on the TxWARN P25 page saying that there are Phase II TGs in use.

Wouldn't the Phase II emission code, 5K76G1E, be on the license? Is there another code that indicates TDMA with 2 or more slots like something ending in G7E or G7W?
