There probably is, but again, Phase II is still in development and not currently in use yet--anywhere. I submitted a request for the disclaimer on the TxWARN P25 page to be removed, since it is inaccurate. I also don't know if there even is a designator for TDMA 2-slot yet. It will probably be at least another two or so years before the first Phase II systems start rolling out, the first of which, according to my source, will be the new City of Houston system's Public Safety (HPD/HFD) layer (the City Services will be Phase I), and that won't happen until at least 2012.

I rolled through Washington County weekend before last, and both the Brenham and Burton sites have excellent mobile coverage - I started picking them up as soon as I crossed into Waller County on 290 and held them well past Giddings. All I heard was jail traffic from Montgomery County and some Austin County stuff, however. I can positively confirm that 155.835 isn't linked to the system yet and is still carrying all of the county's law enforcement traffic. EMS on 155.625 and fire on 154.145 didn't key up while I was there so I can't confirm them.

And on a side note, that San Antonio Urban Area system started coming in on the far western reaches of the county.. and was totally silent while I was listening to it.

The Montgomery and Austin county stuff is pretty much all you will hear from these new sites for the time being. Here in Brazos County, I've been picking stuff up from Walker, Montgomery, and Austin Counties on both 121 and 122 (127 hasn't been too active). It will probably be a few months before any local activity starts appearing on the system.

Got unitrunker hits on 2395 and 2517 today on the Washington site, but that is all they were. Those tgs do not line up with any others on this system or their analog equivalents. Mainly MCSO 1 and 3, and Austin Co. Sheriff. Wierd thing is that the Washington site is not broadcasting that it is neighboring any Austin Co. sites, yet it is carrying their traffic. I guess the mobiles can find the Washington site without roaming over to it, I dunno.

2395 and 2517 are what I have labeled "radio test" channels. They'll pop up briefly with someone doing a test count. Have no idea what is being tested.

Washington County now on TxWARN

Two TGIDs just popped up that had traffic referring to a location in Washington County

2517: Heard a unit addressing Brenham Communications about a road closure (Possibly Washington County Road & Bridge)

2530: Heard a unit discussing a dumpster at Blinn College (Brenham Sanitation?)

I would suspect that if anyone comes across a 25xx TGID, it will probably be related to Washington County.

UPDATE

I suspect I got them reversed.

2530: Heard a 3xx unit calling Brenham Communications about a road closure.
2517: Unit mentioned something about a dumpster at Blinn College; multiple units saying that they were "at the scales". No unit numbers mentioned.

Both of these TGIDs seem to be exclusively on 127. I haven't heard them pop up on any of the other sites in Brazos County.

Anybody heard anything new lately? I might be able to "locate" the new Bryan, CS, and Brazos Co. talkgroups soon, but that might take the fun out of hunting them down with the scanner. Also, I have heard some Grimes SO activity in P25 NAC 200 today. I don't think it was intentional though (wrong channel from deputy.) Currently, I am trying to figure out why Navasota PD has been simulcasting fire/EMS calls on both the fire and police primaries.

Nothing new except for Brenham Utilities and TxDOT Brenahm appearing on the system. I have not been able to figure out when Brazos County is going to switch, either. Oh, if you can get those new TGIDs that would be VERY helpful, because it would avoid the headache of taking weeks to figure them out.

I have been hearing Bryan Fire units saying that they were "out at I.T. for training". It might have nothing to do with the radio system, but I just decided to mention it because it could mean something. I have not seen any new unidentified TGIDs popping up, though. The only things that seem to be popping up with some regularity are MCSO 1, Matagorda SO, Austin SO and EMS, Walker County Fire, and Brenham Utilities.

What is the popping noise on the Bryan PD/FD feed?

Since I don't listen to it, I don't really know. However, I suspect it *might* be the priority mode. In this mode, the scanner will briefly interrupt the current channel and "check in" with the priority channel, creating a popping noise. I don't use that function because it's so annoying.

Walker County Fire is now reported as broadcasting a 632 DPL tone.

That doesn't really surprise me. They've been having all sorts of problems with skip interference over the years (like the old Bryan Police Ch. 2 on 155.190--which would constantly pick up skip from the repeater input for Burnet County SO). I won't be back up there until late August, so you'll have to wait until then for me to confirm that.

Cought a bunch of new TGIDs yesterday. No traffic except for test counts, and I haven't heard them since. They also only appeared on site 121, so whoever was doing the test counts was probably somewhere in Bryan.

They are:
1075
1077
1079
1081
1083
1087
1093
1101

I just thought I'd post these in case they might be of some importance later.

They line up with all the Houston area TxDOT analog talkgroups on system 2318. Maybe Bryan's TxDOT office is linking up to TxWARN now.

I don't know. I did not hear anything besides a test count, and they haven't been seen since. It was very odd how they came up, too. I'm very thankful that I have three scanners (BC396XT, BC996T, and PSR600) all monitoring the system because, at one point, I had all three quick-saving different talkgroups. They came up almost as fast as I could save one. In other words, when I saved one, another was already active. In reality, I've seen a bunch of these "one time only" TGIDs since the system became active:

1492
1428
2156
2357

If you can give me any more information on what the previous TGIDs were, that would be very helpful.

That was me. I noticed they'd quit using 100.0 months ago but was only able to sniff out the new tone/code when I was passing through on the way back from Big D.

Somewhat related: San Jacinto County Fire isn't using 123.0 on 155.7825 anymore but I haven't had a chance to pin their new tone down yet. It may be 192.8, which would line up with SO and the rest of their new repeaters.

I wish I could get around more like I used to. I am pretty much a slave to Schlumberger now. The sad thing is I only touch my scanner maybe once a week now. But I am still a daily visitor to RR. I am sure when local stuff starts popping up in Brazos County I will find the time.

How long was "months ago"? When I finished the semester in early May, they were still using 100.0.
