College Station Utilities has completely switched over to TxWARN, and all utilities and public works TGs on the CS system have been inactive since yesterday.

A wealth of new information has been submitted and updated on the TxWARN P25 page. Come by and check it out. Looks like Washington County is just about ready to drop VHF. Thank you to all the submitters who are listening and looking :D for new talkgroups.

I don't know if they are about ready *just yet*. I submitted those TGs after I got an email a few weeks ago from a friend with a list of them. With a few exceptions, none of those TGs are active yet. I don't have any idea when the switchover will be.

I do think I have an idea about College Station. As of Tuesday, all public works operations switched to TxWARN. Only CSPD and CSFD have yet to switch from the CS TRS. I suspect listeners should start hearing CSPD/CSFD units on TxWARN by the end of the month. As for Bryan and Brazos county, I have yet to see any activity indicating that they are about to switch. Supposedly, everyone is going to be on the system by the end of the year, but then again, they said we should have been on it by last March

When Washington County switches to TXWARN, I believe that the FD will still continue to use their old frequency (154.145) for paging out the departments on fire calls (paging out only, no radio traffic after tone out) . The Minitor's that everyone carries is not able to pick up 700 Mhz. I don't know if it's going to be repeated or sent out on the new radios.

It will probably be repeated. Bryan FD, Walker County FD, and Huntsville/Walker County EMS all kept their old VHF frequencies for paging. It's just a simulcast of the dispatch TG. It'll probably remain that way for a while yet until someone comes out with a pager capable of 700 trunking. It appears as if Brenham FD has been using their TxWARN TG alot recently, but what I heard was mainly just random chatter and not related to any call.

They were on quite a bit Saturday using it "unofficially" as a TAC channel during a extended fire out in the county. The new mobile radios have a much better range than the VHF system that we have been using. (As long as you are outside.... in a metal structure, it's an entirely different story)

Heard numerous test counts on Brenham Fire Primary yesterday afternoon, so I suspect they might be switching soon. Also heard some on the new Bryan Fire Dispatch channel. Oddly, I haven't heard any on the future CSFD or CSPD TGs.

Brenham PD, FD and Washington County EMS and SO should start using the TxWarn system tomorrow morning. I think that the "main" dispatch channels will be repeated on the old VHF frequencies for a while.

That makes sense. There were a few radio techs on Washington County VFD TAC 5 talking about radio installations and about how the traffic is going to be simulcasted on the VHF channels yesterday evening. There was even a tone test on Brenham FD Dispatch.

Glad to see they aren't wasting anytime putting the towers and the $$$ it takes to run them to work.

Oddly, despite hearing calls for both Washington County EMS and Brenham FD, I haven't heard any law enforcement traffic.

Bryan Fire Dispatch is active this morning. Heard "Bryan radio testing 1,2,3,4,5" and "College Station radio testing 1,2,3,4,5" Don't know what that means. It appears that the new BFD Dispatch will still be patched to 154.415.

Quick update: CSFD just toned out a call on their new TxWARN TG. It appears that College Station is about to abandon their Type II system. CSPD has yet to move, however.

Bryan Fire was briefly simulcasting their traffic on both their current and new TxWARN dispatch channels. I submitted the new TGs for College Station PD and College Station FD as well as those for Bryan FD to the DB. I suspect it won't be too long before everyone's on TxWARN.

Bryan Fire is now continuously simulcasting on TxWARN. CSFD has strangely stopped. All of Washington County is using TxWARN now.

CSFD has been intermittently simulcasting on TxWARN. Presently, they have the patch up again. Haven't heard anything from Bryan besides the occassional simulcast to TxWARN for Bryan Fire. As far as I can tell, no units are actually using the system yet.

I know there is a ton of information on the site... but a quick question to the guys in the Brazos Valley. What software package would you recommend that I purchase to program TxWarn into a GRE PSR500 scanner. I just want something that will assist me in getting the sites and talkgroups into a the scanner. The user (my uncle) will just need me to program it. ARC500 basic is what I think I need along with a subscription to this site for DB access.

CS TRS is still up, but there's been no activity. And yes, it's official: College Station has moved all operations to TxWARN. I heard some utility workers discussing it last night, though they only mentioned that "fire is moving tomorrow morning."

I suspect it won't be very much longer until Bryan and Brazos County switch over; it's getting close to that December 31st deadline that I've been hearing about.
