Thanks for the help.

I'm new to this 700 digital/ Wide area stuff

That's ok. We all are kind of. The 700MHz public safety band in Texas is in its relative infancy. The further we all get down the interop highway, the wider these wide area networks get. So we're all in the same boat.

then eventually tie it all together for one huge interop system lol

I imagine one day, they'll have a "test of tests" to try and create links, tying every large metroplex in the state together. I'd like to have a whole bunch of scanners going when it happens, because it might just be for a fleeting moment...

If an event like this were scheduled to take place, I'd hope word makes it through the grapevine to us beforehand...

College Station PD

I have not used my Pro96 in over 2 weeks ( Knee Replacement Surgery). On January 5, I could receive College Station Police. On January 19 when I turned the scanner back on, I can no longer hear CSPD or TAMU PD. Does anyone know what happened to them. I have reloaded both the regular frequencies and the TXWARN P25 frequencies. I can still here the FD and also Brazos County and Bryan Police. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

CSPD and TAMU pd are both on txwarn now. Make sure you didn't program it as a Motorola type 2 system. I believe I saw that somebody did that and couldn't hear anything. Aside from that I'm not really familiar with the pro series radios.

I'm not sure if the PRO96 can even do 700 trunking. I once read somewhere on here that it couldn't.

It can't trunk track the 700mhz band.

You can "open up" the receiver, via Win96, so that it would receive the 700mhz frequencies conventionally, but it won't trunk track the 700mhz sites. It would give you an invalid frequency error. Since the scanner was not designed for 700mhz reception, sensitivity may not be optimum. (That's also the case with mil-air, another band the Pro-96/-2096 was not designed for, but could be 'opened up' via software. Some units received well, others, not so much.)

Has anybody else noticed lately that college station pd has been having lots of problems conversing clearly on the radios? The dispatchers keep misunderstanding information such as dl numbers and everybody keeps asking to repeat transmissions. And today the motorcycle officers all had low volume when talking. When listening I can see constant errors showing on the digital error rate function during a spotty transmission. It seems like this is a recent problem to me. When I'm in brenham, it sounds like they're talking clearly with no problems although I don't listen to them really often.

I haven't noticed, but I also haven't listened as much as I usually do. Tonight everything is loud and clear through. CSPD has a lot of traffic going on right now.

There was a ton of radio testing last night on the Brazos County VFD VHF channel, and Bryan Fire was having problems with their VHF paging channel (154.415). Late last night, the dispatchers in Bryan appeared to be using handhelds for dispatching and one mentioned that they had four radio techs in the room "upgrading the system". I was surprised to turn my scanner on this morning and still hear them on the County system, but I suspect it won't be too much longer before those Bryan and Brazos County TGs on TxWARN starting popping up with traffic.

Help Needed

Can anyone walk me through loading the rebanded College Station Police and Fire Frequencies on my Pro96 scanner? I have downloaded everything from RR and even hand entered the rebanded frequencies and the TXWarn 700's.
Still nothing. I know I must be doing something wrong. I could hear everything OK on January 5th. I had Knee Replacement Surgery and when I turned my scanner back on on the 19th, I could not hear anything for CSPD or FD or TAMU PD

Thanks for any/all help

If you are trying to listen to the old college station analog system, I don't believe its used any longer at all. I haven't heard anybody on it for quite some time and may be a fruitless effort for you. If you are referring to the txwarn system, the pro96 can't trunktrack 700mhz as mentioned previously. I did however find a thread about programming rebanded systems in the pro96. This may or may not help you though.

As far as I know, College Station has completely abandoned their Type II system, and are now entirely on TxWARN. For a while, CSFD was simulcasting on both systems, but, as of a few weeks ago, stopped

How do you not program it as a Motorola Type 2 system.

So since it can't trunktrack any of the TXWarn sites in the 700MHz band, you're not going to be able to do anything about this.

As hiegtx stated though...

You would have to program the system as a type 2 system cause its not anything else but that. Type 1 systems are very rare now and its not an edacs system or LTR it may come down to getting a new scanner

What I meant about programming as a type 2 i guess pertains to uniden scanners because it can be programmed as either a Motorola or a P25 system. But like i said, I'm not really familiar with the RS or PSR radios and how they're set up. But really its a moot point because the scanner he has won't work on the new system anyway, and the old system is dead.
