I plugged in all the 700mzh frequencies and left the bank open. I can now hear CSPD and FD. I had to lock out a bunch of frequencies due to noise on them and also eliminated all duplicate frequencies. Seem to be working fine now.

As in conventional? I don't know exactly what scanner you are using (and I am too lazy to read through 20 pages of this thread to check), but if you want to trunk track the system and follow only those talkgroups (such as CSFD only) you want to hear, you must look into one of the following:

Uniden:
Home Patrol-1
BCD996XT
BCD396XT

RadioShack:
PRO106
PRO197

GRE:
PSR500
PSR600

I personally have a PSR500 and can track the TxWARN system all over east/southeast Texas locations just fine.

Question for the board: Since I am living in Shreveport and cannot confirm, please help me out. I received a submission stating that the Washington SO and Brenham PD talkgroups are mixed up. It doesn't make sense, seeing as it is just now noted and the talkgroups currently are in an order that makes sense. It could be possible that the dispatch talkgroups are patched, since on VHF, they both used 155.835 until the TxWARN switch. Can someone else confirm that there is a mixup in the database?

At last check (a few minutes ago) everything was where it should be.

Thanks. I will hold on to the submission for a few days just to make sure. If you hear anything different, let me know. Remember, SO units are 2XX and BPD units are 3XXX. Fire units range from like 85XX to 99XX.

Bryan on new system?

I am hearing Bryan PD on the new system as of 8:20 this morning. I haven't been paying much attention lately - this may be old news...

I'm in Hunstville right now, but I'll check on it when I get back this evening. If it's just primary, it's popped up before, possibly because someone's activated the simulcast on it. When I left this morning (around 7 AM or so) there was no indication that--if they indeed did move--it was going to happen. There's been no radio testing lately. However, on Sunday, Bryan Fire was patching their TAC 2 to TxWARN (I could've sworn Bryan Engine 5 was using it). I've been busy with school lately, and haven't had much time to listen to my scanner, so I could have missed something. Was there more than just BPD Primary on there?

It was just Primary at first, but just now (9:02 they are using Secondary as well

bob

Well, they've probably switched over (finally). Keep an ear out for SO, because I suspect it wont't be much longer until they follow suit. VFD has been patched to the system for a while now, so it'll be rather hard to tell if they switched over as well (unless you start picking up activity on their tactical channels). The same goes for Bryan Fire.

I'll be sure to listen today and see what turns up. For testing purposes, I have Bryan, SO 1 & 2, all of VFD and Blinn. Had to lock out VFD and Blinn - too much traffic on them this morning. I'll add Bryan Fire right now...

Have you noticed any decrease in the amount of traffic on BPD Primary on the County system?

A good way to tell is--assuming that you have more than one scanner--to pause on BPD Primary on the County system, and do the same on the other scanner, only with TxWARN. If the same traffic shows up on both, then it's simulcast. However, if TxWARN has traffic while the other doesn't, then they've switched.

I only have the PSR 500, but I will try to catch a long transmission and just hit scan while listening to both. BPD pri and sec have been very active on the new system this morning, but usually with very short transmissions. I have been away from the radio for about an hour, and now I'm not hearing them at all on the old system. That doesn't necessarily mean anything - maybe they know I'm waiting for them to say something. :)

That's another way to do it. Just hit "SCAN" when one of them pops up to see if the other's up as well. If only TxWARN is active, then you can say they've switched. You said the transmissions were brief. I *might* suspect what you're hearing is radio techs doing test counts on the new radios. If you hear "Radio service testing 1,2,3,4,5,5,4,3,2,1" then that's what it is (they'll also tend to say just "radio test").
Thankfully, I only go to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I'll be watching it all weekend. If I find out that's the case, then the DB will be updated to reflect that.

No testing at all - it's regular police business. Earlier this morning I heard them doing something on the old BPD pri that caused me to start listening on TxWARM and I have heard no testing on either system since then - just regular police traffic.

Well, I'd call it official. They've switched.

I just heard a deputy call dispatch, and while pressing pause, the dispatcher said "Unit calling, you are on OLD Bryan Tac 1", which was correct. There was no reply, so I went back to scanning and never heard the deputy reply on TxWARN, and I wasn't listening to the old SO at the time. Since my last post, there has been no traffic at all on the old BPD pri or sec - just that one call on Tac 1.

While at the store about 30 min ago, I heard animal control call dispatch on the old PD secondary, and he was immediately told he needed to go to the new system. I have TxWARN PD (pri and sec only) locked out right now in order to listen to the old system, and have only heard that call and the Tac 1 call since earlier today.
