School bus radio traffic, despite the marginal adherence to FERPA by radio users, can sometimes be useful for live traffic reports in the morning and afternoon. Short of Highway 288 being closed down at 2004, Clute does not experience traffic. I don't know the frequencies off the top of my head so putting my foot in here to receive any alerts that might come of this thread.
On the other hand, my first strong experience with radio scanning was when school was on lock down and the administrators were just saying a bunch of BS. I was in a computer class and the teacher had a radio scanner. Learned all about transparency and reality versus government press releases that day. Not to mention the inherent benefit for protecting my life and safety.
