Saline County
Rural Fird District 6 was dispatched to a wheat field fire. Wheat cutter was able to move combine from fire area before fire district arrived. Upon FD arrival fire was quickly put out.

Gunfire and a police chase. It happened Saturday night in Wichita's Old Town.

When officers caught one of the cars speeding from the scene, they found a man shot and bleeding.

An officer heard gun shots about 2:00 Saturday morning in the area near Douglas and Emporia. The officer then saw several cars speeding away. The officer took after them while other officers used stop sticks.

They caught one car near 3rd Street and Washington and found the driver shot in the arm. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but police say they are not life-threatening.


Now police are looking for a man in his 20's driving a four-door gold or silver Dodge with license number RJV 483.


Police say another man riding in the car was not hurt. Police do not yet have a motive.

Alligator captured in Wichita

A handfull of people swore it wasn't their imagination. They say they saw an alligator. The sightings were in remote areas of Sedgwick and Butler Counties.

But Monday, two guys caught a gator smack in South Wichita.
It was just a mundane Monday until gator fever heated up for the pair.
"We though it was an iguana, a big snake," says Jamie Bugerest.

The people around Pawnee and Glenn heard the tails about the alleged three foot gator. They saw Wildlife and Parks on television searching the county creeks last week. But the gator creeping in their neighborhood didn't have any tall brush for cover.

"You could see him plain and clear from the street," says Bugerest. "We dragged him out of the corner," says his partner Steve McIntosh. "I through my shirt over him. We got him down. I had his mouth [in my hand] and we wrapped it up pretty good."

"He was trying to get away the whole time." Bugerest says.

The people at the Sedgwick County Zoo say it’s not likely a reptile this small would have tried to attack anyone.

Follow Up to Shed Fire.

Salina Police made an arrest in an arson case Sunday night, and are investigating another.

Deputy Police Chief Barry Plunkett says that officers arrested a 19-year-old and 16-year-old shortly after a fire destroyed a shed behind a home in the 500 block of North 12th Street. The two are accused of pouring gasoline onto the shed, and then igniting it. They allegedly started the head of a Barbie on fire, and used it ignite the shed.
Total loss is estimated at $500. Both could face charges that include arson.
