I would suggest you join the Elad english group on yahoo groups.

I also have the Elad FDM-S2 with the pixel antenna.

You made a great choice.

Don't forget to update the software .

Elad arrived yesterday morning and installed without any issues. I have more difficulty navigating in Windows, it seems they like to keep things hidden from me. If I could just make that window with the tiles disappear forever, it would be a better world. Also hooked up the Tmate 2, which is very cool. The screen changes color depending on which receiver you are tuning! Sadly, I have no antenna, just a wire hanging in the window at the end of a piece of coax. I guess this won't qualify as a Super Station quite yet! Hopefully, early next week I can get the discone and loop antennas up and working.

The control software seems fairly manageable. Lots of settings for experts, today I will try to figure out databases.

I'm using a pair of RTL-SDR dongles w/a splitter to get both to the Ham-It-Up converter. Then out to a discone antenna not at all designed for HF. But does okay. Still picks up several countries every day.

Dongle, converter, coax, antenna, a few adapters... under $200 for everything. Under $20 for the dongle alone if you have everything else. Add $50 for the up-converter if you get one off the shelf. A great DC to 1.7ghz monitoring station that does more than anything Radio Shack sells. Lots of great software for the setup, much of it free.

Sold my Flex3k recently and the RTL-SDR has been 90% as much fun. Some ways better, some ways not.
