Can anyone help me out with what freq Brewster uses for their police radios? I saw some police cars in town but I found conflicting info when I did some searches. Does the sheriff's department dispatch them or do they have their own dispatch? I saw 154.875 also listed. anyone that can help, please let me know.

thanks

Brewster PD is dispatched by Putnam 911, 155.985. They also have 7K identifiers, which means you might find them on NYSP Troop K frequencies as well. Ninety percent of the time, they are on Putnam 911.

Brewster has a Police Department again? When did that happen?

Funny they did away with the PD a few years ago. So when is Putnam Valley bringing theirs back?

Actually the Brewster PD was disbanded many years ago. Due the needs of an ever changing village it was brought back a couple of years ago. The present frequency was established by the PCSO to cover the area as the normal SO towers worked poorly. The SO had been assigning a unit to the village for several years prior to the re-establishment of the PD.

What present frequency are you referring to? I only hear Brewster PD on Putnam 911, and rarely on NYSP Troop K Base/Mobile. They are NOT using the 154 frequency as far as I know, as I monitor that and it's pretty quiet.

875 was the village freq. as the east twr. doesn't work well down there. There aren't a lot of members and with only one or two on there's not a bunch of traffic. Too far for me to hear so maybe there has been a change. Kind of like Cold Spring. Not a lot of traffic and assigned a freq. for that general area due to topo. It's also a simplex freq. in Brewster I believe.

Interesting. I heard the news when the disbanded and the last time I was up there it was definately PCSO that was primary. I was up there a few years ago and a call for an assault in progress came over. Since they send dispatch over the 911 Polling channel, it was actually Metro North PD that got their first with the Sheriff not far behind. I guess I was there a lot longer ago then I remember so I didn't know they re-established the PD. I know they had "constables" and there was talk of having "Armed Constables" I guess someone just concluded that if they needed armed constables then they might as well bring back the PD.

Is Brewster PD full time or is it part time like North Salem, Somers etc?

As I don't deal with them now I'm not sure as to the status for either. I was aware of the constable thing but I'm not sure how or if that ever happened either way. Polling comes over the main twr and then you revert to the other channels with dispositions back on the main.
