I have been receiving distant MW/AM and FM signals in the UK for nearly 6 years using an ordinary Philips Radio/CD Player. I have received Spanish MW stations regularly and sometimes Radio Bretagne from northern France and on some occasions RTT from Tunisia, although the Tunisian signal often fades after around 2 minutes.
I had received Premier Christian Radio from London this week at 1413AM and a Spanish station was overlapping. At one point while the Spanish station was on, the signal disappeared and loud crackling interference came on followed by a clear signal from a station playing We Built This City on Rock N' Roll which suddenly stopped after around 4 seconds before going back to the Spanish station. 10 minutes later, the same happened, with a short burst of a song whose name I didn't know, than another 10 minutes later another short burst came on, this time the station played the Bryan Adams song Run To You, this only lasted a few seconds before it suddenly stopped.
I haven't been able to identify this station, and I can remember in January last year I was also receiving very short clear bursts that quickly disappeared, this time they were around 630AM. I am no expert, but I get the impression these stations must be very far from Britain to only hear short bursts. I would be really interested to find out what stations these might be.
