I was down in Manasquan with my portable scanner and wanted to let everyone know that they have TWO Beach Patrol frequencies, even though only one of them is listed in the Radio reference database. Brielle and Manasquan share two frequencies among each other since their beaches are so close with no separation. Their main Beach Patrol frequency (used by lifeguards and badge checkers) is 154.315 MHz, which isn't listed in Radio reference. Their secondary frequency is 155.895 MHz which is listed in radio reference.

Also, radio reference lists Manasquan Fireground frequency as 154.025. This MAY be correct since I didn't hear any fire dept. activity when I was down there, however I DID hear ANOTHER town's beach patrol/lifeguards using this frequency. It did come in a little weak, but couldn't figure out which town it was. If anyone knows what town uses 154.025 as their beach patrol frequency, please post. Perhaps next year we can get together a nice list on here of ALL the NJ beach towns and what frequencies their lifeguards and badge checkers use, since radio reference database fails to provide most of this information.

That frequency of 154.315 is not a valid frequency. They are licensed for 154.3175 as WQIU230.

Close enough, since my scanner rounds it to 315 anyway. The point is that this info hasn't been posted anywhere on radio reference (database or forums), so I wanted to make everyone aware of it with the likelihood they will be using it again next summer. BTW, anyone know of any beaches remaining open with lifeguards on duty still? I know most close after Labor Day, but if this weather stays nice, I figure maybe some are staying open a little longer.

When you find these frequencies and your sure they are correct, submit them to the database, then we'll all have the opportunity to look up the info.

Make sure you submit any PL or DPL info with it as well. I'm pretty sure that a channel like that would not be CSQ...

155.895 uses 94.8 PL.

154.025 IS Manasquan's Fire Ground frequency. It's posted on the Manasquan Hook & Ladder Company website. As for who is using it for Beach Patrol, the only two municipalities in New Jersey with beachfront that are licensed to it are Wildwood (Fire Ch. 4) and Atlantic City. (Public Works Dept.).

Manasquan Beach Patrol

The new beach patrol frequency 154.3175 has a DPL 654. The 154.025 frequency belongs to the DPW and is also a fireground for MFD.

Boss, can you verify that 154.025 uses PL 94.8? I have it in my scanners that way but never hear anything at all on it, ever. Although it is the fire ground frequency, the FD always seems to operate on 154.980.

Here's an interesting twist, last night my scanner locked onto 155.895 with a manhunt in progress. Judging at first by the accent and the mention of neighboring towns Mamaroneck and Rye it turned out to be a repeater in Harrison, Westchester County, NY. Aside from some interesting action it would be nice to find Manasquan's PL being this is a very crowded band segment and those portables are easily swamped unless you're on the beach with them. Trouble is after Labor Day it all falls silent around here except for Jenkinson's that closes when the last bennie goes home so maybe we'll just have to wait until the terrorists invade again next summer.

Just a little confusion there, got it right now since I heard them preparing for the storm this morning.

I can definitely confirm that 154.025 was being used by a nearby town's beach patrol in either Monmouth County or far northern Ocean County while I was down there a couple weekends ago. I highly doubt I would've been able to pick up AC or Wildwood from the Manasquan area on that frequency. If that's who I was hearing, then there must have been a huge skip in the atmosphere.

I know this is an old thread, but after all this time, I still don't see many beach patrol/lifeguard frequencies listed for Monmouth County. I am especially interested in Asbury Park and Ocean Grove's lifeguard frequencies with summer season approaching. If no one has any info, I'll try and find it using close-call over the summer and submit them.

I was going to post this anyway- but since this came up on the forum - I'll throw it out here. Spring Lake had their beach units on a repeater on 155.2500 (former PD dispatch) I see in the DB it's still listed as that. About two summers ago the repeater was booming load & clear here in Red Bank. I don't remember it being that powerful last year. It was pretty amusing as the guards had no idea their day to day chitchat was getting blasted all over the place along the shore!

I just wanted to mention. Brielle does not have a beach.
Manasquan has a beach. I live here so I can attest to it.
Just wanted to clarify that - so nothing is wrong in the DB.

Further, I will try monitoring and post any updates I can find out.

Thanks Cash. I believe the db should list Manasquan beach patrol as 155.895 rather than .855. I believe someone made an understandable error. Don't forget the Manasquan Coast Guard station is still very active on 164.300 P25 in the clear when down in that area.
