One thing I miss about my old 9000XLT compared to newer scanners was the 9000's "high-cut" audio option. My hope is that Uniden might think about bringing this option back for those who prefer deep audio rolloffs at 300 - 3k.

Actually in my later years the 9000's high-cut option seems a bit too severe, but I'd sure love to see this on my 396!

I'm the guy who puts limited amounts of pda protector covering over his speaker grills to help cut down the shrillness of most scanner's high-end - obviously this is subjective, but man, couldn't manufacturers put in a one-cent cap to cut the high end just a tad?

Sorry, had to rant.. :)

To give you some idea of what I'm talking about, I've covered about 50 percent of my 396's grill with pda protector material in an inverted-T shape. The entire middle column is covered along with the bottom 3 rows. Clarity and freq response is now outstanding to me. Originally I had only the bottom 3 rows covered, but needed just a bit more. Just covering with your fingers doesn't cut it. :)

Hello,
Some systems have more high end than others that's for sure.

Informationally, it would be a coil to reduce the HF, Caps act as high pass filters, coils as low pass filters.

Depending on the actual impedance of the speaker in the 2-4K range a coil in the 1.5 to 2 mH range (Milihenry) would start your rolloff at 2Khz or so and be down 6dB at 4Khz.
