Broadcastify app crashing on iPhone

Just this afternoon I found that the app crashes shortly after connection. This is on the Las Vegas feeds. It appears to be advert related. The feed starts, then after about four seconds a pop-up ad comes up and the app crashes. Any ideas? I'm using an iPhone with the latest iOS.

Hello, I've never experienced this issue but you may have to delete the app or use a completely different scanner app that uses Broadcastify such as Scanner App, 5-0 Radio, etc.

Deleted the Broadcastify app and reloaded it. Same issue on any feed. As soon as an ad comes up, the app dies. I'm using an iPhone 11 Pro recently updated to iOS 15.1. BUT, immediately after updating to iOS 15.1, the app worked. I think there is some kind of bad code in the latest batch of ads that my phone is rejecting, hopefully.

OK. I've managed to get the app to stay up, but the circumstances make me suspicious.

1) Opened the app and went to the "Feeds with alerts" area as a test. Clicked on the one live feed.
2) After 3-4 seconds an ad window appeared with nothing in it except a countdown in the corner starting at five.
3) The countdown was not running realtime, but very slowly.
4) Eventually, an X appeared in the countdown circle, but the ad did not close on the first try and there was an appreciable delay from tapping the X and the ad window closing.
5) The feed ran as normal.

FYI, I run my phone very tight. Location srvices and just about everything else I can disable is nuked. I'm the same with my computers. Has there been a change in the ad policies that requires certain things to be live. If so, I'm gone.

The latest: I updated the phone to iOS 15.2, deleted the app and then reloaded it. It still crashes at the ads about 60-70% of the time. It's maddening, so I tried some other scanner apps. Hah! If it ain't one thing, it's another.

"Police Scanner" Works OK but connects to the car Bluetooth in such a way that the audio is low and the volume control in the car does nothing. Fail.

"Scanner Radio" Seems OK, but the front end is a little odd, but at least the BT connects to the car in a sensible way.

"5-0 Radio" This is more like it. Usable interface, connects to the car BT AOK.

Guess 5-0 is the way to go now, but I really would like to know what setting I have in my phone that causes the Broadcastify app to fail. It works fine on my wife's identical iPhone

I tried restarting the phone, deleting the app then downloading it again…same result.

Same result for me today. Brand new iPhone, rock solid with everything else so far. App crashes after I open any feeds within about 3 to 4 seconds. Did that about 8 times with a 100% failure rate. Despite clearing out all other apps, restarting the phone, and anything else I could think of I couldn’t get it to work.

Deleted App, was a good ideal while it lasted. Obviously there is something going wrong here and there needs to be an update.

I’ve used 5-0, but the advertisements suck.

Today I was going to just delete the app and move on, but decided to try it one more time and it’s working!

Update, just tried the app again and it crashed, i’m throwing in the towel!
Time to delete Broadcastify and get 5-0 Radio Police Scanner

Same issues here. I think it started with IOS 15 on. Tried all the obvious suggestions. I don't use it very often. However, it is clearly an app developer issue.

I should have checked here earlier before subscribing to RadioReference. Didn’t mind tossing some cash in for Broadcastify after it’s been a (free) blessing for many years, but now out $15 for a still-broken connection. Sad to say goodbye.

Could be that the app has not been updated to work with IOS 15.2 ?APPS background refresh activated ?

Any hopes on having Cals integrated with the app now that some feeds are moving over to that platform? I listen to the Calls on the desktop but it’s frustrating to not be able to listen to it on the app.

Otherwise no issues so far for me with the app playing or crashing on 15.2 or on my older phone on 12.0 though. But I don’t get the ads playing.

Same here, iPhone 7plus iOS 15.2 open app and approx 4 seconds into stream the app crashes. Reopen, repeat, reopen, repeat….. seems to be an issue related to iOS 15 itself.

Looks like a simple fix. Dump the pop-up adds that try to load at 4 seconds and crash the ap. The crashing began when the pop-ups started. Figure out a different way to advertise.

One comment on this situation:

In order to sell apps in the Apple App Store you have to be an Apple developer. This means that you get access to the beta versions of IOS. The reason for this is to make sure your app stays current with new versions of the operating system. This is a condition of being a developer because Apple does not want to distribute defective apps. The explanation, "We're working on a fix" is disingenuous. It says we didn't do our job.
