Might just be your phone's app settings. The app works fine for me in the background. Doesn't stop playing unless I phycially press the stop button.

I have not been able to find a setting I can change, and other streaming apps have been working fine. Specifically, iHeart Radio and Tune-in both stream in the background, without being closed by the phone.

A Couple Suggestions

Hi Lindsay... great job so far... just a couple of suggestions for future development (running iOS 9.2 Beta 2 on iPhone 6):

  • Link your volume slider with the hardware volume buttons.
  • Add a Left-Right-Center control like Scanner911 (nice to have for stereo feeds)
  • Add recording like Scanner911 (nice to be able to go back with a couple taps to hear something you missed)
Cheers!

I just downloaded the iOS app on the iPad a few hours ago. I haven't had too much time to play around with it yet but I like it so far. Looks good, no crashes like some other apps. So that's good.

One question though. Unless I missed it in the settings is there a way to keep the app on the screen and override the sleep function like other apps will?

Is there a way to get the Broadcastify logo in the notification bar?
I've been doing other things on my phone and closed everything. Then I heard my scanner feed because I forgot that the app was still running.

Feature Requests

The iOS version looks good so far, seems stable.

Some features I would like to see:

Snooze timer.

Ability to add streams by URL (I listen to LiveATC on occasion).

Is it possible to listen to two streams at once?

Custom alerts (I would like to get an alert when my local stream reaches a certain number of listeners).

I currently use two different apps to get all of these features, it would be nice to have that in a single app.

Thanks.

I have the opposite problem, my playback stops, randomly. A notification bar presence might fix my issue, too. (Other apps do not close, when they are part of the bar.)

All good feedback - many thanks - I'm planning an update in January (after I can take some vacation with the family) that should introduce a number of new features and fixes.

Thanks!!

Some Suggestions for next update

Alpha tags aren't supported yet in iOS...

Lindsay,

Alpha Tag Support?
A Competitor App has it and runs on iOS (i.e. Scanner Radio/Scanner Radio Deluxe)
Access to Additional Feed Information Page for user selected feeds?

Thanks and enjoy the vacation!

For iOS build 1.0 you should be proud of it. Nice app and no doubt it's features will grow over time. Keep up the great work Lindsey

Broadcastify Mobile App

Read post #23.

Mike,

My apologies, Not to be obstinate or labor the point,
My point was there is an actual App as previously stated in my post that runs on iOS (and Android etc) that will show alpha-tags. I indeed read post 23 and re-quoted in my original post. Forgive me, I am not a iOS programmer or know all the ins and outs of iOS system. I was thinking perhaps it would not be that difficult add this feature to the Broadcasting mobile application in a future upgrade. I am darn sure Lindsay is and is on top of the matter. The feature will be come available when it does.
Otherwise this first version of the application runs fine on all my iOS devices :D.

With that, Seasons Greetings and a happy Safe, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to you and your family!

Thank you,

Max Powers:cool:

Read post #23.

I think the way post#23 is worded caused the confusion: "Alpha tags aren't supported yet in iOS..." would suggest that IOS does not yet support alpha tags. What Lindsey actually means is that the IOS version of the app. does not support alpha tags, yet.

The Android version does support alpha tags.

I like the app, but .................

Unless I'm missing a setting somewhere, it isn't working well for me.

I listen to multiple scanner feeds (4-7) constantly. Some private, some not.

I use Scanner Radio, Scanner Radio Pro, XiiaLive, TuneIn Radio etc..

Around my home and property, I have 4 WiFi hot spots.

As I move around, my Android will switch from one hot spot to another seamlessly.
All of my players except the Broadcastify player just keep right on playing.

The Broadcastify player more often than not, just stops and I have to hit play again to start it.
I have to keep checking it to see if it's still running.

I been trying to use it since this thread was started and haven't had much luck.
I'd be glad to try any suggestions. I do like the app. ;)

Whenever I have to restart the feed monitor, the app resets the audio level to a much higher level than it had been set to.

Is that an intentional setting of levels, or an oversight?

I've noticed a weird bug on the android version. Running a Note 4, 5.0.1OS, whenever I try to open one of the streams I am hosting, it causes the app to crash instantly. I've even tried wiping data, uninstalling and reinstalling, and it always crashes when I play the stream.

Not the app necessarily but I would like to know if Broadcastify would consider doing an official Windows 10 app, or at least a way to get Toast notifications. The intent is I want to get configurable "Alerts" when there is an alert or listener count threshold met similar to the phone apps.
