Wow, now that was a strange article.

Other special districts seem to have no problem with their
police powers like BART and college district Police.

I hope the governator signs this, since the taxpayers are already
paying for police services in that district, and I would think the Sheriff would
have better things to do than tow cars.

Geeze, even state humane officers have more powers than Brodmoor.

Exactly
what irks me is the SFPD's time being wasted on what the "Muni Security"
Should be doing/could be doing if ony they had the proper arrest powers etc
(SF Muni being what I am reffering to for those unfamiliar with San Francisco)

It's a bit confusing.

Broadmoor is a village (and is legally considered a township), i.e. it has a Council Of Elders as a city Gov't.

The Broadmoor PPD was formed in 1948, and is the last PPD in the state. Modern laws, such as sex registration, etc, have been written, but Townships and PPD's were not written into the law, and some California Penal Code Sections which pertain to police powers, failed to include PPD's.

Broadmoor PD can enforce most laws, mainly traditional PC violations (i.e. theft, assaults, etc) but some recently enacted laws are referred to San Mateo Co. S.O.

Daly City wants to annex Broadmoor, but Broadmoor has been resistant for years. There really isn't even a defined boundry for it, as some addresses in Broadmoor are actually in Colma or Daly City.

I grew up in Daly City and always thought it was funny when you could tell just how many officers were out on patrol by looking in the driveway of their station. I honestly think they should just give in and let Daly City annex them since they are completely surrounded by the city.

The only way I recall being able to tell a Daly City street from a Broadmoor street was the color of the street sign. And half the street could be Daly City and the other half be Broadmoor, how much more confusing could they make it.

I thought ABAG was pretty much mandating these types of annexations.

I know San Jose annexed a bunch of pockets that were surrounded by San Jose and
ABAG/LAFCO mandated it.
