Brooke County Shooting

An officer with the West Virginia State Police was shot while responding to a domestic dispute on Cross Creek Road.

Brooke County Sheriff John Gruzinskas said the man who shot the state trooper fled into a nearby wooded area.

Police from across the area are searching for the shooter and have called in a SWAT team.

All Brooke County schools are in lockdown.

The trooper is being transported by medical helicopter. There is no word on his condition at this time.

The State Trooper did make it but the shooter took his own life in the end. It was a mess in Brooke County. I work at a tar plant in Follansbee and this happened 2 or 3 miles from where I worked and I could see the Police choppers and the medivac choppers flying around.

Ok, heres the scoop, go to www.wtov.com, they got most of it on there. The shooter shot himself, the state police officer was mostly grazed, and yes it was a mess down there, they had follansbee, wellsburg, hooverson heights at the scene and most of the county on stand by at or on other FD stations. I run with colliers fire rescue and was listening to the action all day, they started putting up check points at the bridges. but most of it is being hush hush till they finish their investigation.
