On Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. North Metro Fire Rescue and Broomfield Police responded to a report of a structure fire at a home in the 2600 block of West 132nd Avenue. The first engine from North Metro Fire Rescue arrived at 10:01 a.m. and made entry into the home. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and heat in a room in the basement and extinguished the fire. While in the home, Firefighters could see what appeared to be marijuana plants growing in a room in the basement. After ensuring that the home was unoccupied and that the fire was out, Firefighters exited the home and notified police of their findings.
The North Metro Task Force was notified and responded to assist at the scene. At this time, a search warrant for the residence is pending and a joint investigation is being conducted by North Metro Fire Rescue, Broomfield Police and the North Metro Task Force.
