Maybe he's near a Coral Springs trunk site and it's blowing the doors off his receiver so it can't hear a Broward County site? Worth checking into at least.

There is the Tamarac site, then there is a site off the Sawgrass & 441. I doubt it is being far from any sites. So it is probably what Bote is mentioning.

10072 - heard about 18:13 the tail end of what was likely law enforcement traffic. This is just above the Law Enforcement common talkgroups and just below the fire dispatch talkgroups.

Countywide 6 is the talkgroup. There is a few more "CW" talkgroups on this system. The old one had a believe 3-4.

Bote, what was the traffic like? My understanding is was it was for large scale incidents...

They have a patch up right now between LE COMM 1, D11 AREA-1, D11 TAC3, CW5 and DLE/FR as well as 14 OPS 2 on the old system (looking for a fugitive out of TN per Local 10). Here is what I am seeing:

10067 BSO CW1
10068 BSO CW2
10069 BSO CW3
10070 BSO CW4
10071 BSO CW5 referred to as "Countywide 5" and also "Staging"
10072 BSO CW6 referred to as "Countywide 6" and also "Ops"

10071 - sounds very S.W.A.T.ty and since Google Maps shows the roads in that area dead red I have to assume this is no drill. Golf-6 and Golf-9 talking there.

Thanks for the tip on the names.

They used to have the Omega talkgroups which sounded all mysterious and secretive, but I don't think I ever heard them used.

They had "Global" which was supposedly in every last radio in the county, but I only ever heard HVAC technicians talking about vents and thermostats and pressure lines on that one.

But that old system had been patched and band-aided over the years so this is a chance for a fresh start.

It sounds SWATy because the Golf units are out there searching. I identified their talkgroup based upon the UIDs and callsigns in the clear on the CW and LE-COMM talkgroups...its Encrypted as expected and as it should be.

Countywide is used like Dade goes to Tac 4-6. CW5 was being used for a Command Post that was set up. There were 2 SWAT opperations going on in Broward County at that time.

Now that we're back into the M-F 9-5 routine it looks like CountyWide 3 tg 10069 is used for those warrant servers, so now I know which channel to lockout :)

They had previously been on tg 4656 on the old system, which was labeled "H FD-LE interop" but never used that way.

CONFIRMED: Broward Fire tac 11 (tg 10031) is used by FLL ARFF, same as Joint Ops 11 on the old P16 system. So that is how I will label it in my scanners and SDR databases.

Ah interesting. I was trying to figure out the random assignment of tacs. I saw an assignment to Tac 9 and thought maybe it was because an accident on the highway but then another on same highway different time was not. There has to be some protocol now with 14 of them.

Fort Lauderdale has routinely been assigning tac 8 instead of their own tac b so that appears to be "their" channel, bumping it to tac 9 for a second city incident.

12150 - BSO training exercise at 14:00

Talking about a barricaded guy, victims, EMS task force. Talking about Powerline Road which is their address of choice for various drills lately. I *think* I heard District 18 mentioned which I don't have listed so it's probably a made-up district for these exercises.

I sure hope it's this crappy scanner that makes them sound bad because if they sound this bad to each other...God bless 'em! I can understand about 30% of these transmissions, the rest are just noise and gibberish. I gotta hurry up with this SDR receive project.

They sound fine on an actual subscriber. Although some are still complaining of the "digitized" voice and mumbling. But they are coming from decades of analog to TDMA so its expected. The audio sounds really good on my Unication G5.

I agree , This systems audio is great on my G5 as well , then again all the P25P2 systems that I monitor sounds great on this amazing device, Audio from my SDS 200 is also good but definitely trailing the G5. I sold my 436 as it could not properly handle this system.

I’ll be getting a Unication G5. I can barely hear anything on my BCD325p2. Does anything knows if you are able to hold and stay on a single talkgroup instead of it scanning all the time on the G5?

I'm quite convinced that the Police Academy has multiple courses that teach cops to mumble as quietly as possible as far away from the mic as possible. This is the absolute WORST condition for these vocoders and the results speak (mumble) for themselves.

More than a few requests to "10-9, no copy" lately.

To cars2809 you can park the G4/G5 on a single talk group. I have done all the Uni G4/G5 vice SDS research (Another Thread) and what I'm seeing from reviews and specs is that the Uni's are definitely better on simulcast than the SDS's. I just can't come to part with $550+Accessories to listen to just one Broward system. The SDS100 is $649 everywhere including Amazon (Sold by Uniden) which I have a $50 gift card for as well, makes it $599. However, Uniden sells all their returns as used repacks on Amazon, so I'm looking out for that as well, get it maybe even cheaper.
