It’s still in the game plan for all LE to have a common fleetmap regardless of agency and system in the County. If that happens it will be one positive.
That's a great idea, but they had better print a little cheat sheet and train these users.
Just last night the Papa helo was asking Broward fire Info channel to roll some units to search offshore of Pompano for that missing diver, but when she offered him a JOps channel (short for Joint Operations--exactly what he wanted to do) he stated that he did not have JOps channels in his radio. I find that impossible to believe, but what are you gonna do?
That whole code plug for fire needs to be totally rethought out: they need to mimic Palm Beach County and just have one big block of 16 fireground talkgroups that EVERYBODY uses all the time, day in, day out. No more of this "just us chickens" garbage. You can't have interoperability if you don't already have operability.
That way when they roll up to a warehouse fire that goes 3 alarms with much mutual aid they don't waste time switching to JOps talkgroups or load down the system even more with a bunch of patches because they can't be bothered to push the mode button a few times. Just make it simple to figure out and use finally.
