I work volunteer school security at my sons' high school. However, I can not seem to get on the school's DMR system with a properly programmed TYT MD-380.
I need some assistance if anybody can chime in. See the RR database info below and below that the FCC info, they seem to contradict.
FCC says conventional and nothing about DMR, but I have tried both DMR and conventional with no results.
Thanks
Jim

FCC license shows digital (look at the "emissions" tab under the frequencies heading). Are they using Motorola radios running RAS? Someone else will probably ask if you have permission from the licensed to put your radio on their system.

I am "the licensed". I'm staff. We run short sometimes on XPR's depending on larger events. So I figured I would use my personal MD-380 when we ran into that, BUT I never thought of RAS. Didn't think we were that technical. The install was way before my time, and nobody on staff would be able the answer the RAS question.
Thanks
Jim

depends on how it was set up, and if they are running encryption too. Chances are, the installing shop set up RAS
and possible password protection, to further vendor lock it down.
The license contact is just who did the license application, so it would
have been Lightning Comm., HWS, or one of the other radio shops there that
did the install.

When I had the TYT MD-380 I had issues picking up simplex even I was like not even 2 blocks from a school. I don't have that radio or program any longer. The program is on the old hard drive and if you don't hear any Encryption you should hear the H.S. no issues. Do you have the TG and Group call setup correct? Make sure you make a zone / scan list(s) for that channel also.

I don't believe MD-380s do RAS. Even if he knew the RAS key, it won't matter.

Can you confirm that your radio is set to TX on 469.xxx and RX on 464.xxx? This is a repeater and you will have to TX on the repeater input for it to work. If that is setup correctly, then you will need to read the radio or DSD the system. If it is RAS, it is unlikely for your radio to work. TT

Jim, just for the record the "out of town" company is located in Miami, the FCC license indicates a corporate location in Ma where there FCC coordinator works from..

Industrial operates a string of repeaters up and down the coast and have for some time. If you're a legit user they should cooperate with you, but maybe bureaucracy will get in the way?

Settings are all correct, and Yeah I am a legit user BUT the MD-380 does not do RAS. Oh well. I'm all over Dade County with the FD job, next time I'm in Miami-Gardens I will pop in and confirm RAS.
Thanks to all
