I'm looking at getting a scanner in the next couple months. One of the major reasons is wanting to listen in on County Rescue/Eagle III ops.

Couple of questions here:
Is Eagle III paged over the air?
If so. what frequency do I need to have programmed?
Are LZ ops on a standardized frequency?

OT/sidenote, I'm new here, obviously, and is there a guide to "getting started setting up a feed? link?

I'm not sure if it's paged over the air, but their frequency is 153.11000 DPL 365. They are also listed as being on 155.175. Landing zone ops on 151.28000 PL 136.5 simplex (MARC 2).

Eagle III is not paged out. It is either called in by phone or sometimes requested over the air. Marcus Dude is correct on the frequencies. If you do buy a scanner make sure it is digital and 700Mhz if you want to listen to just about anything else in Brown County. Brown County Sheriff, GBPD, GBFD, all county fire departments...etc..will be switching over to 700Mhz trunked P25. I have a Radio Shack PRO-106 and I am very happy with it. I have used it on the Michigan state wide MPSCS system and it works good. I also like the way it is programmed.

So what is remaining on VHF? County fire paging will remain on 154.370 and become simulcast (all towers transmit at once). This will become transmit ONLY. Fire units will NOT talk back to dispatch on VHF. Just llike today GBFD will not get paged out on VHF. It sounds like EMS paging may switch to 154.370, I am not sure at this time. Some fire departments are keeping vhf private TAC channels or repeaters. I believe some form of EMS channel will remain county wide for paramedic intercepts from outlying agencies.

Some VHF will also remain on a patchable basis. For example, if there is a major event the comm center will be able to connect a talk group on the 700Mhz system to one of the tower sites in the county on VHF.

I encourage you to consider a digital scanner. They are still expensive but it's really what you need if you want to listen to just about anything public safety in Brown County in the next several months.

Thank you for that.

I looked on Amazon, and yep, all of the digitals are a bit out of my price-range for now, and since I've been aiming for a Canon Digital SLR camera first, I'll have to put the scanner on the back burner for now.

You say they're switching to an 700mhz, will a digital scanner have the range to get 700 and 800Mhz transmissions?

Perhaps that is what these recently issued licenses are for:
ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WQQH304 - BROWN, COUNTY OF

ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WQQI392 - BROWN, COUNTY OF

Don't worry about not getting a scanner. I have a PRO-106 and intend to create a feed for radio reference. I would like to see a fire and EMS feed only, as that is about all I listen to anyways. However, I see the feed still being a few months out.
