Good afternoon

I was listening to my scanners the last three days then I notice no traffic for the city police fire and ems where coming in. Does anyone know if Brownsville has switch over to the new trunking system Lower Rio Grande Valley Regional Radio System(LRGVRRS)? I have a Pro-2053 scanner monitoring the Brownsville Motorola system I'm only hearing School Police/Security some other traffic no 911 traffic.

On the old system the only channel working is channel 3 information channel. I can here dispatch car to car fire and ems at this channel but not all the time. I have reconfigured my BCD396T to the new system.

Thanks

They went to LRGVRRS System. I never saw them testing the radios they just switch. On Monday I was able to here them on Tuesday they started switching by the end of the week it was quite. The only channel working was channel 3.

The system went to LRGVRRS ( lower Rio Grande Valley Regional Radio System). The new channels are enc. so no scanner will be able to listen to them. Almost the entire valley went to this system. On the old system name Brownsville you can still hear some radio system ( bus, school police, sometimes pd channel 3)

PUB went to the new system they where the first ones to switch over then EMS/Fire went to the new system the last one to switch was the police. The rest of the users are still using the old system until they also switch to the new system in a couple of weeks.

Thx AL95. I thought I was doing something wrong when I could still hear everyone else except for Brownsville.

This will not be a good time to buy a 500.00 dollar scanner.......

I was about to order the BCD436HP when this happened and stop right away. I'm looking on ebay for a used bcd396xt. I love my Pro=106 but a lot of enc sound drives me mad. While the bcd396t is all quite. That's the only reason i'm buying the bcd396xt.

Brownsville pd. reply

It's kinda odd why they would encrypt dispatch channels ....now I know why digital scanners are way too expensive.

They probably went to encrypted communications because the border area has become a "bad neighborhood." Unfortunate for the scanner enthusiasts, but it is a real world problem.
