BCD325P2/BCD996P2: BRRRRR sound on DMR

Can someone tell me why my scanner makes a ratchet "brrrr" like sound on a DMR channel every so often. I paid for the DMR upgrade and hear the channel fine when they talk. Its annoying to hear that sound though.
Is there a fix?

Let's start with what scanner you have and what you are trying to hear. Go to the database and supply the URL. Then more folks can try to help

I have a BCD996P2 and DMR upgrade to hear Madison CO Va Sheriff and Fire which I hear them fine, but on Madison Sheriff 1, every so often a loud "Brrrrrrr" sound comes from that channel?

Sounds like DATA or ENCRYPTION
Without hearing it we can only guess.

If you don’t have it programmed as digital only you will hear the raw data. This was the same issue with Motorola Smartzone systems that had some analog. If you programmed the talkgroup as mixed you would get the raw data as the scanner looks for analog first.

Set it to digital only, I had the same issue with my BCD996P2. That fixed it

Setting the Wait Time too short will also cause that to some degree.

I I agree Walsabrook's answer is the better solution.

If you know a channel is only DMR, also program the Color Code at minimum.

Thank you, I set everything for digital and put the color codes in and it stopped!
