Hello NC Members:

Hope all is well! I realize this may not be the most appropriate forum for a scanner configuration question, however I'm hoping the knowledgeable members here can get me started in the right direction. I'm trying to get Fire Tone out for Brunswick County to work on my Uniden scanners using the list of fire station Tone Codes found on the Wiki at:

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Brunswick_County_(NC)

I've looked at several videos for setting up Fire Tone out on Uniden Scanners (BCT15X, BCD536HP) and I'm using the following Brunswick County dispatch frequency as noted on the Wiki: 155.520. When a page goes out on the 155.520 county dispatch frequency, the scanners are silent and there is no Fire Tone Out alerting of any kind (no lights an/or sound) even though I have the scanner configured to alert and sitting on Fire Tone Standby.

Not sure if it's a configuration-related issue, the wrong dispatch frequency or something else I'm missing. Any help and/or suggestions would be very welcomed.

Thanks very much!

Mike

Hey Mike - I've been playing with this a bit over the last month also:

https://forums.radioreference.com/n...nswick-county-tri-beach-fire-pager-tones.html

I had been able to make it work but not reliably. From my location, the paging frequency seems to be pretty good at times and very weak at others leading me to believe that they are selectively transmitting on towers based on the dispatch location (just a guess).

Aside from that, I did hear a conversation the other day where the dispatcher mentioned what sounded to me like different tone pairs for some stations (i.e. fire alert vs. first responder alerts). I'd say that the Wiki page of tones is a good start but is probably in need of alot of updates. I'm happy to help and team up and try to get that list more current.....

Thanks for the reply troymail! In my case, I'm receiving the County Paging frequency of 155.520 loud & clear. However my BCT15X and BCD536HP will not alert at all (no sound and/or light is produced). I'm either missing something in the Fire Tone Out configuration or the tones on the Wiki that I'm using are not valid? I even have one of the scanners set-up to do Fire Tone Out "search" using 155.520....and nothing is received....

Ok - I just broke out my 536 (it's been in a box in the closet for a few weeks)... Which station/tones are you trying to watch? Can you send me the details?

Also - a thought just hit me -- you do know you have to put the radio into Tone Out mode to be alerted, correct? That it - you can't scan and be in tone out at the same time... it's either a tone out pager or a scanner but not both at the same time....

Heavy thunderstorm today took out the county fire paging system..... repairs in progress...

Paging update: dispatch advising paging may be down for several days...

Edit: Bolivia responded to a fire alarm activation in the County EOC earlier today as well. Apparently, their phones weren't working properly either.

Oak Island and Southport alerted for a 2nd possible structure fire on the island... Sunset Harbor and others on a lightning strike in Seawatch.

My Unication G4 seems be be reporting also that the VIPER SOUTHPORT site is in site trunking mode as well... Interestingly, Pro96Com confirms site trunking but also showing connected (but stale) to 5 other area sites. Units on Oak Island reporting radio problems. Pro96Com showing some affiliations but no activity on the Southport site at all...

Looks like another round of storms approaching.
