Bryan just about complete to go digital! Talkgroup info!!

City of Bryan has been simulcasting on the new 800 digital system for almost a week now.
Been running trunker a lot lately. Looks kinda like the dispatchers for Bpd are using the new consoles, simulcasting on both vhf/800. Over the last several days I noticed a change in audio tone and quality plus just now I show an different id when the dispatcher talks. They have also been doing a lot of radio checks lately to mobile units.Apparently there has been some probs with that, as officers not hearing the dispatcher at times. So far mobiles units are still operating vhf. No mobile ids showing up yet. I haven't heard actual 800 only pd units yet except for one brief time on 55120.
Bryan Fire attempting to use the new radios today too.
I would imagine they will be just about fully switched over by the 1st of the year.

Motorola Type II Smart Zone. Just about like everything else in Houston and surrounding areas.

Does anybody know if they are planning future intergration into StarNet with this new system?

With this being an partially digital system, and StarNet's footprint getting larger it would kinda make sense, but then again I don't know of anybody operating on digital TG's on StarNet.

Anyway, just curious.

Right now the farthest north point of STAR-Net is Huntsville.

Looks like I am going to have to start looking for a digital capable scanner... I am in Robertson Co., and there has been talk the Sheriff here is wanting to go that route in the near future. I have a trunking radio now, but it doesn't do the P-25 stuff. Thanks for the info and updates.

I thought that county was so poor.....

Anyway our county (brazos) is on the system too. Right now all the cross band links are still in place. except for Bryan PD ch 2. I would imagine all the links will disappear in the near future.
There has been some encryption at times, sometimes there'll will be one particular unit running it full time for no reason, I'm guessing they are experimenting (playing around) with their radio features and don't realize its on. Brazos Co So primary, (dispatcher only though) had it activated all day long up until a little while ago.

Also to add: both the pro96 and the uniden 296 works fine on the system. THe 296 maybe a better choice because it has I-call capability, which the facilty works people do use quite often in digital mode. If it stays like that then thats fine, I'm not too worried about hearing them anyway.
I haven't heard any PD/FD traffic using I-call.. YET! Otherwise the pro-96 wins for little better digital audio clarity and runs off of AA's bats. Both radios suffer when going by a cell phone tower while listening to digital.

City service workers will be on the system as well. They will be analog as well as fire department. Each deptpartment is being added one by one. Currently facility works and water services have moved onto it.

Go see Chris at the Culpepper RS store for the pro96. He his supposed to have some pro96's. The 296d will have to be mail ordered, there maybe a place in austin that carries them.

Is this a 9600 baud system? If so, I thought no scanner could follow I-Calls on a 9600 baud MOT Type II.

To still have analog interoperability among the other local public safety agencies in town. Going to 9600 baud cqpsk would mean digital only and would create some interoperabilty probs. Plus I'm sure the "latest" cost more too. I don't think a new digital 3600 baud is considered "old" technology at this point. I bet a lot of these systems are being purchaesd and installed.
Another thing too, this system setup was approved 2-3 years ago but there was some bureaucratic red tape that keep things from proceeding for nearly a year.
