My guess for the airport would be Buffalo North. You won't hear it anyplace else unless one of their units is traveling with the radio on.

Lancaster is another possibility.

My guess would be Lancaster, Buffalo North, or the UB site. The radio needs to affiliate with the site in order to hear it. The advice of what tower sounds strongest will not work unless a Buffalo Airport Fire unit is traveling in that area. Which is not very likely.

From my understanding of the Saia system all units appear on all the channels. I hear them just fine off the South Buffalo site.

My logging today is showing BNIA Field ops hitting off the North Buffalo Site, The UB north Site, Lancaster, South Buffalo. I am in south Cheektowaga. So any one of those should work although I have them all in my whistler trx-2

Like most wide-area/regional trunked systems, talkgroups are generally only active on sites that either a) a radio is affiliated with said talkgroups on, or b) the system admin has set it up so that a particular talkgroup is carried at particular site(s) all the time, regardless of affiliation. SaiaNet is no different. You shouldn't expect to hear talkgroups from the Rochester area on Erie County sites. If you do, it's likely an anomaly.

If you're hearing KBUF fire communications via more distant sites, it is possible that a member or officer with an issued portable lives in that area and has the radio on at home.

Dave as usual you comment when you have no clue. BNIA does appear on almost all of Saia sites along with a few other talk groups. There are reasons for this.

BNIA does not show up on most of the 19+ SaiaNet sites. BNIA shows up on 4 or 5 sites, often less. This is based on what sites their radios are registered to. This is done to keep overall system traffic down, and more efficient use of site resources.

I call shenanigans on the personal attacks. Obviously someone does not know everything. As others are experiencing what I would predict, I suggest some proof be offered of any "reasons" to expect anything different.

Dave, I hope you are not taking this information as a personal attack. My contribution, is purely from a position of knowing how Connect Plus works, and understanding the reasons why having sites broadcast Talkgroups, with no radios to listen to them, makes poor use of valuable resources. If you have viable information, contradicting my view, backing your loading claim, I would be very interested in seeing it.
