Build 800mhz Yagi

I looked at the gamma match style, but it looked harder to construct than what I chose.

It was very easy to make the driven element -- I cut a piece of the steel rod to the correct length, drilled some tiny holes at each end, then inserted a couple of pieces of very thin welding rod and soldered them.

Then I carefully bent each rod down and fed it into a couple of grommets and into the body of the antenna where I soldered each to the feedline as shown in the picture I drew in a previous response.

It only took maybe 30 minutes with a drill press and 75 watt soldering iron.

Hate to bump such an old thread, but I built myself an antenna using the specs in post #4. Threw it together quickly using metal coat hanger for the radials and a piece of metal U channel for the boom. Been using it over the past few days and it works very well! I'l monitoring a P25 simulcast system that is about 40km from me and the reception if very good. Now to go back, take my time, and build a 'good' version of it.
