I can see that Buncombe county is switching to the 700Mhz system at a really fast past. I've been noticing that local Fire station are moving to the new system. So whats going to happen to there local repeaters that they put up? Is it the plan for all station to be 700Mhz and who flipping the bill for the small departments to get the new radio install?

The plan is as the departments get money to switch to 700. The VHF system will stay up for those that can't get the funding right away.

Will each department have to pay a fee to use the system? My old department in chambers county tx. has to pay a fee to use the new 800 system.

Weaverville and Woodfin are the only individual agencies so far that have made the switch. From past experience, in a far away land, it will be a long, long time until they are assigned their own talk groups, but ya never know... take care

Weaverville and Woodfin do not have their own individual 700 MHz talkgroups, they rely on the County dispatcher. Here is a sample of the County Fire Department talkgroups;
