The older Glendale Smartzone ICIS system and LAPD P25 conventional channels still work fine on the PRO 96. The new ICIS P25 systems work flawlessly on my 396XT however I’ve had no luck getting them to work on my PRO 96. I know I’ll need to program in the 9600 multi tables however the Pro 96 only allows 6 tables to be entered but PRO96COM shows 12 in use on the on the new Burbank site for example. Tables and tracking aside, even programming the Burbank site frequencies as conventional channels I only get some very spotty digital garble as if it is not demodulating the P25 transmission properly. Any advice would be much appreciated.

All of a sudden, I can't get any audio from ICIS on my PRO-96. I last used WIN 96 to program it in March and everything was fine then. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at the forum for LA/ICIS, it looks like Glendale was scheduled to convert to the new P25 system on 6/14. I'm not getting anything on Glendale on the old system either on my Pro96. I'll try downloading the P25 system from here into Win96 and see what happens. Maybe try that too?

Fortunately, GA

Not a true statement.
The 96 receives APCO-25 Common Air Interface Exclusive. This equals a Phase I system. The 96 has garbled receive due to the hardware in the radio. In 2008, I replaced my 96 with a 106. Huge difference on receive. The 96 was hooked to a PC running Pro96com for decoding new systems. Then eventually was sold. The 96 works great on conventional P-25, but not trunk systems.

Well, I've had my PRO-96 since 2005 and I've been thinking about getting a new scanner for a while. Any suggestions as to which handheld can monitor the new ICIS P-25 system without any problems? 396XT, 106, anything else?

It sounds like we are out of luck as far as our Pro-96s working with the new ICIS P-25 system unless there is a work around like custom tables or something like that.

From some posts, it looks like the Pro-106 and 396XT will work, though those are getting a bit long in the tooth as well. The Radio Models portion of the Wiki section on here. That will show which radios will work with this system and others that are coming on line.

Personally, I don't listen to Verdugo Fire, Burbank PD or Glendale PD to justify buying something new right now. If the L.A. City FD and PD or the LACoFd change, then I'd probably look for something new.

Good luck!

It was the craziest thing. I found these frequencies in another thread in this forum tonight and added them to the other frequencies that I had been programming and uploaded to my scanner and suddenly, I could hear Verdugo, BPD and GPD clearer and louder than ever. Now I just need to figure out how to seperate them back into their own banks.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.. I have a test .p96 file I've been messing with for this. Two nights ago, I copied/pasted the freqs into Excel and then into Win96. It didn't seem to track correctly, though occasionally signals came through loud and clear. Do you have custom tables set up? If so, what parameters? By "separating them into their own banks", I assume you mean one bank for Verdugo, one bank for GPD, etc? That's what I had before with the old system.

i'll be honest, I've never been very savvy when it comes to monitoring trunked systems, so I just let RadioReference do all of the heavy lifting. I didn't set any custom tables that I know of, other than clicking on "Custom" table. Yeah, on the old system, I had Bank 0 for Verdugo, Bank 1 for Burbank, etc.. I've got more time today, so maybe I can figure that out.

I usually program trunked systems through RR as well. I'll give that another try again tonight using the default custom tables.

Let me know how it goes for you.

Not yet. At least I can still hear everything, but it's annoying that I have to put up with DWP and Animal Control horning in. LOL

Ok.. I took out the trunk info and left the freqs in so I am getting everything too. It sounds like that is what you are doing?

Just bumping this thread to see if anyone has had any luck with a Pro-96 with the Burbank or Glendale P25 systems?

Thanks.
