ATHENS, Tenn. - A second man has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery Friday of a local Dollar General Store.
Athens police say Michael Lynn Thomas, 56, of Elizabethton, is a career criminal with numerous prior arrests.
He and his alleged partner, Doyle Engle, 51, of Erwin, Tenn., reportedly burglarized a Riceville Dollar General Store and were at the Athens store when the two were talking on a two-way radio. Athens police say the radio transmissions were picked up on a nearby Wal-Mart radio system used by workers there.
