Alright, so now that the county spent way too much money becoming "P25 compliant" -- even though they really didn't need to -- it's time to program the new radios to transmit analog so someone with an old radio doesn't get left in the dark. As advised above, certainly program the digital channel to also accept the analog tone.

Has there been any extensive field testing throughout the county of the radio system using digital voice?

Are they really going to do fireground comms with digital voice?

I suppose the potential benefit is that now the county can correspond with other agencies that are digital. At that point, why didn't they join the TxWARN system (not that I think they should)?

TxWarn is not a financially viable option for this county and the only ones going or trying to go digi is LE and as the one that used to do the programming they used to be programmed right but not any more at least a few aren't the ones they got a hold of.

Are you no longer in a position to assist with the comms decisions and implementations? Who's making the decisions? Just the SO and CPD?

I can't and they won't really ask and the ones in charge now have no idea what they are doing they got a program from their third party vendor that was full or errors and outdated info. Their excuse was they what everyone to be the same. If I would have been able to finish my programming they would have been I know of 7 FDs that are close enough to the same despite different radio models that you wouldn't know the difference.
