I too now own a BC796D, and need some info here. I've programmed the system for Burlco and am attempting to scan this system...however, I receive no transmissions from this system for some reason, at ALL, even using ID Search. I am within range of the West site tower, and can hear the control channel data, but no voice transmissions. I don't understand it...maybe there's something I'm doing wrong with the digital system? I don't know much about digital systems...and this is the first I'm messing with one.

I have the Burlco system programmed in a bank with a few conventional frequencies also, this dosen't make a difference, does it? And before someone asks, yes the APCO card is enabled in the scanner.

Is there something else I have to do here to make this work? The trunked system frequencies ARE programmed in as Motorola type II 800Mhz frequencies, so it should work. NJSP trunked system works just fine, but this is not a digital system...so I'm thinking perhaps there's something I need to do here concerning the digital feature to get this all going...

Thanks in advance guys.

Burlington County is a UHF (500 MHZ) system. Give that setting a try and you should be OK. I use both a BC796D and a BC296D portable and they are both picking up all of the Burlco and W'boro calls. I am also a newbie, not to scanning but to trunking and APCO25, having had both of these radios about a month.

As was just stated above, you must have BurlCo programmed as a UHF MOT system using the proper base/offset pairs shown in the database section of the site here.

The BurlCo system is quite complex to monitor - every active site in the system has it's own control channel, and the traffic on that site is limited most of the time to that site only (i.e. - You won't hear Bordentown traffic from the north zone if you are monitoring the north central zone, etc).

The only time you will hear cross-zone traffic is if the TGID is marked for county-wide broadcast, or the unit from that other zone is traveling somewhere else in the county (and is then cross-affiliating now).

It works the same way as the NJSP system does now that it was upgraded (i.e. - the only way that you will hear NorthSTAR all the way down in Troop A is if a valid user on that system is tuned to the TGID - the system will no longer mass-broadcast traffic from the other systems & waste bandwidth).

Attached is an ARC mem file with 10 banks for Burlington Co. One bank for each of the 10 sites, including the last two for "future use".

The text file is a programming shortcut for UHF Motorola programming.

I would appreciate it if anyone in the area using ARC250 software would correct any errors in the mem file.

Ah OK, I think I've got it now...I'll try ID search for the remainder of the night here and hope I hear SOMETHING to indicate things are working right...

Between the NW system in Mt Laural and the West system in Medford I hear just about everything in the county.
