It would appear that the Burlington Trunk system is now up and running on the various sites.

I have been watching the Westampton site today and found the system to be trunking on 2 patched talkgroups from their current conventional repeaters.

The talkgroups that are patched to the trunk system are:

16112 - Police P-5 from 500.5125

16848 - Police P-3 from 500.7375

After monitoring for an hour, it is obvious that the 2 patches from the current conventional repeaters to the trunk system are only carrying the mobile side of the conversations. (The dispatcher can only be heard on the conventional freq repeater and not on the trunk system.)

I also loaded the Westampton site into my PRO-96 and it works wonderfully in trunk mode on this site. For the set-up I used the following configuration:
Base 1 = Channel 380, frequency 500.3875, step 12.5
Base 2 = Channel 564, frequency 506.5375, step 12.5

It appears from a real quick check that these same 2 talkgroups are being carried on several of the sites, but I don't have time to check them out today. (Has anyone else confirmed these?)

Kel, I notice your using different base frequencies then what are listed here, I suppose the county changed them. Is there any deletions or additions to the other frequencies listed here or are they still all the same. Rumor has it you should be able to hear the dispatcher by 9-01-04. and then slowly they will migrate the FD and EMS from the same areas covered by police zone 3.

Burlington Base Freqs

The base freqs have no bearing on who may be using that particular freq., and in fact the base freq may never even be used in the system. It is a point of reference and it is used by the radio to determine how to interpret the control channel data. When the control channel sends out data related to what freq to operate on, it does not send out the specific freq, like 501.2125, but instead it sends out a 'channel' to go to, like 421. In order for the radio to know what freq goes with "channel 421", it first must be programmed with the 'base' freq. For the Burlington System it appears to me that the first base freq is 500.3875 and this corresponds to "channel 380". The next piece of info is the step information. This tells the radio how much of a freq change there is from one 'channel' to another. In this case the step size is 12.5 Khz. This means that if channel 380 is 500.3875, then channel 381 will be 500.4000, which is a 12.5 Khz step above the last freq..

Of note is the fact that this system has 2 ranges of freqs (in the 500-502 range and the 506-509 range) and requires at least 2 base freqs to be programmed for proper operation. I have even heard that the final set-up may actually involve 3 base freqs that need to be programmed.

I have the first base frequency as 500.4375 and is tracking the system.
TG 16112 (P5) is broadcast on the entire system minus the IR's in the Pine Barrens area. TG 16848 is only broadcast from the Westampton IR site.

System is digital trunked. Freqs are in the RR database, just need the updated base frequencies as identified earlier. If you're in New Egypt, plug in the Group 1 frequencies, they're in use in the northern and eastern part of the county, from the Bordentown and Pemberon zones. I'm now hearing TG 16848 (P3) being sent over all sites.
