Burnsville PD nd Fire

Hello,

I know that Burnsville PD is dispatched through the Dakota county communications center. (they don't have their own dispatch) So, my question is.... If I wanted to listen to ONLY Burnsville PD and Fire, can I just enter the talk group ID numbers for Burnsville listed in the database, or do I also need to have all of the Dakota county talk groups programed to hear Burnsville dispatch.

As of now, I have B-ville AND Dakota county programed into my scanner and I am hearing things from all over the entire county... from cities that I don't care about. How can I hear ONLY Burnsville?

Same question applies for Savage PD and Prior Lake PD in Scott County. If I only want to hear Savage and Prior Lake, and not the other cities within Scott County, do I only program in those specific talk group ID's? And if so, will I still hear the calls to those specific PD's from the Scott County Dispatch center?

Burnsville PD And Fire

About the best you can do is scan DK L MAIN 2, which covers Lakeville and Farmington. Scan the West Fire Main, and then put in the specific car to car and truck to truck talkgroups. You will still hear some other traffic, but you certainly need NOT scan DK LMAIN 1 or 3, or the East Fire Main. Keep in mind that sometimes L MAIN 4 is used and may include Burnsville. Also, sometimes the Fire Main are split and other times they are tied together.

Your suggestion is now exactly how I have my scanner setup for Burnsville. I will give it a try and see how it goes.
