Has this already begun, or do they start using it in December when the new system comes online?

i have been informed by some of our officers that the county is going to start using the new id starting next Wednesday may 7th. i think this is due to the testing of the new 800 MHZ that will begin next month with ONLY westchester and monroe. that has been told to me by some people at the BCSO

These are the rebanding frequencies.... notice that they're exactly 15MHz below the others. There should also be a "rebanding" code on these frequencies in the FCC license. Very soon, the new frequencies will replace the old.

Tower sites are still being built, other than that nothing new. December is still the target month for the system being turned on. I have heard nothing on any of the frequencies yet.

They also filed for and received and extention for build out from the FCC until December 31st 2009. Apparently they have run into site aquistion problems according to the letter submitted to the FCC. The planned switch over date is still December 31st 2008 however this gives them another year to have the system online if more problems pop up.

And also the talkgroup templates are supposed to be finalized for each agency by sometime next month.

System Activity?

I am getting strong P-25 (digital) control data this afternoon
on 868.5375 showing a NAC code of 260.
I'm getting this in conventional mode, I'm not seeing any
trunking activity on the system.

Only other license there in Ohio proper is MARCS well
over in eastern Ohio. By power of deduction this should
be Butler County. I was receiving it from Monroe northward
into Springboro. Actually getting here in Miamisburg as well.

One other note, Butler County is sharing the frequency of
868.2875 with the alt control/voice channel on the MARCS
Lebanon site, so do not get that confused as activity from the
Butler County system.

Sysid=268

The sysid for the system appears to be 268.

I will start working on staging the system for entry into the database.

Various members of MONIX are hearing the first traffic on the system now.

Sounds like two radio techs have radios with them and are testing them on their way home.
Also heard them say them will be testing again Monday

Update

868.5375 has been the control channel since Friday. Radio Techs appear to work a 9-5 job, so expect most activity in that time frame for now.
Talkgroup 1 (Dec) is the only one heard so far, being used by two MobileCom radio techs.

For those of you on the eastern fringe of the system, perhaps in Warren County, please note that 868.2875 is the current control channel for MARCS Site 359 in Wilmington.
This may create some initial confusion. So far there has been no activity on any of the re-banded frequencies.

At this time the Oxford P-25 and West Chester Township Smartnet systems continue to run separately with no change.

I currently have the system staged and will release it to the database here when more information becomes known.

System: Butler County Public Safety
SysiD: 268
WACN: BEE00
NAC: 260
