Hello,
Anyone have one of these antennas? If so, would you mind posting a picture of it assembled? Here's the deal: I just picked up one of these old Butternuts on eBay. I'm trying to assemble it correctly, but I'm running into what I think is a typo in the instructions. There are several elements they call 'trombones' in the instructions, and you have to position each one in a specific location on the main antenna in order for the antenna to be tuned properly. Trouble is, one of these trombones is supposed to be 47-1/4 inches above the fiberglass insulator, but you can't actually position it there because there is a fixed brace attachment at that location. So I'm thinking maybe the 47 is just a typo, maybe it should really be at 41-1/4 inches, or 42-1/4 inches. But I'm just guessing. Unfortunately the diagram in the instructions is not very helpful as it is not proportioned properly, so I can't make a "close enough" guesstimate based on it.

There's a PDF of the instruction sheet online here:

Collins - Model SC-3000 Collinear vertical scanner antenna covering 30-512 MHz produced from 1984 to 1995.pdf

That PDF is all I can find online, I can't find any photos or anything.

Any help would sure be appreciated!!

Thanks!

.

The good old Butternut

I used an SC-3000 for many years. It was a great antenna.

I have a picture of it somewhere, but more importantly, I have the instruction sheet. Did you ever find any answers?
