Canton is moving (or has moved?) to this system. Good news is there looks to only be one site on it so simulcast distortion wouldn't be an issue here. Personally I'd recommend the SDS200 over the TRX-2, especially if you ever plan on monitoring TXWarn. Many sites here are simulcast & the SDS200 would do a better job on these types of simulcast systems. But for Canton alone, the TRX-2 should be fine. 73!

ok thanks
As already noted, Canton is on a P25 Phase II system.
Tyler & Smith County are on TxWARN
Kaufman County, your west side neighbor, is also on a Phase II system, though some of their talkgroups are Phase I

The Canton system is not simulcast, but Kaufman County is. Tyler/Smith County has several sites for TxWARM, at least one of which is simulcast.

If you can wait till they are back in stock (and if your budget allows), the SDS200 would be your best choice.

The talkgroups on the Canton system are all TDMA
Correct.

The Kaufman County system has a mix of Phase I & Phase II talkgroups, with the county itself mostly Phase II.

The East Texas arm of TxWARN is still using P25 Phase I, but I would not be shocked if, at some point, it converted to Phase II.

Terrell and Forney in Kaufman County also have P25 systems. Terrell has both Phase I & Phase II TGIDs, Forney only Phase II at this point.

A friend of mine who lives in nearby Dayton, who monitors both Montgomery and Greene counties with a TRX-1, says his scanner is not affected by simulcast at his QTH, but when he brings his TRX-1 over to my house it instantly becomes all garbled with LSM. Once back at his own QTH he calls me and tells me it's back to normal - no simulcast issues. It's all about that sweet spot.
