Nice. I didn't even know those were available anymore. It gives the scanner a smaller footprint and feels good in your hand if you don't need more than 3.5 hours of battery life.

The smaller footprint also makes it easier to mount it in some of the generic holders for the car.

I agree that the smaller footprint is nice, but it make it easier for the scanner to be knocked over when sitting on a tabletop.

The big battery still fits in the RAM finger grip mount just fine, and most of the SDS100 cases are designed for the big battery. I have a small battery (I was one of the early purchasers), but I only use it when customers send in a radio without a battery. Otherwise, it's just a backup.
